12 Board of Selectmen Minutes July 8, 2013 NEW BUSINIESS: Eagle scout Certificate—Samuel JacobMcGuire: It was announced that Samuel Jacob McGuire, a rnember of Troop 36 wouldbe receiving a special Court of Honor for achieving the prank of Eagle Scout. Samuel has earned 23 merit badges. For his project Samuel created a nature trail at the Cape Cod Children's Museum. Thisproject will also serve as a memorial for his older brother Daniel McGuire, a U.S. Marine killed in action while serving in Iraq. Sarnuel will be honored on July 2 , 2013. 5 Motion made by Selectman-Taylor to issue a cert tate to honor Samuel J. McGuire for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Motion seconded by selectman O'Hara. VOTE: Unanimous. -o. Roll Call vote: Selectman Cahalane,yes Selectman Richardson,absent Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Taylor,yes Selectman Sherman,yes opposed,none LIAISON REPORTS: Joint Meetin /school Committee: An ad hoc group comprised of membership from the Board of Selectmen, Finance Committee,and School Department included the School Superintendent, To n Manager,and Town Account net in an open forum to discuss matters pertaining to the Ton and Schools. The initial meeting went well, and It was agreed the parties would meet even other month to continue to maintain the open line of communication. Town Picnic: Due to inclement weather the annum Town Picnic will be re- scheduled at a slate to be announced. Mashppe Pow Wow. The traditional Pow Wow event held last week was deemed successful event n the Town of Mashpe . Mashpee News: At a recent Planning Board rneetw" g, Ron Bonvle was acknowledged for receivimg National Builders award for the Southport community having the best model unit in the country for the age group._ Ir. Bonvie was also recently appointed to the Board of Trustees representing the National Seniors Council.
