4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 8. 2013 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS* <br /> Catherine Laurent—Recommendation for Street Li t: <br /> The Street Light Committee voted at their meeting of June 11, 2013 to <br /> recommend the acceptance of the existing street light located on Route 151 at the <br /> intersection of Winslow Fps, across from John's Pond Estates as a Town light <br /> r <br /> as it has been determined a light at this location is beneficial for safety purposes. <br /> The light is currently owned by INSTAR and it is privately funded. due to the <br /> non-payment of fees,the light was turned off over a year ago. Acceptance of the <br /> light will allow for the conversion of the Town light to IED. It was noted the <br /> Cape Light Compact is currently funding 100 of the conversion of all Town <br /> street lights to energy saving IED lighting. <br /> David Capotosto of-117 Captain's Row indicated he recently received notice the <br /> Town would not be maintaining the street light in his area of residence. 1n <br /> response, Catherine Laurent,Director of Public Works indicted the Street Dight <br /> Committee is presently reviewing all street lighting on Town roads in I lashpec to <br /> determine if they are necessary. It is estimated that 90%of the lighting will <br /> remain operative. However, the costs shah a assumed by the residents. Of the <br /> oo street lights on Town roads,approximately 20 will be financed by the Tori <br /> in the matter of public safety. <br /> Stephen Lernpitski of 102 Captain's Row asked if the residents would qualify for <br /> a rebate in their taxes for maintaining their street lighting. Mr. Lernpits i also <br /> inquired if this matter would be brought to Town Meeting._ The Town Manager <br /> responded by stating this matter is not on the agenda for discussion purposes, and <br /> would not be required to be acted upon at Town Meeting. Beijag no further <br /> discussion,the Board tools the following action on the recommendation of the <br /> Street Dight Committee. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Taylor to accept the recommendation of the <br /> Street Dight Committee to take-over the existing street light on Route 151 at <br /> the intersection of Winslow Farms. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-06 <br /> Roll Fall vote: <br /> Selectman Cahalane yes Selectman Richardson,absent <br /> Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Taylor,yes <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes opposed, none <br />
