I <br /> 1 <br /> I <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 1 ,2013 <br /> October Town 1leeti Warrant'Review—Draft 93: (continued) <br /> Article#12: To fund the continuation of the mousing Assistance Program, <br /> $200,000 in Community Preservation finding for the remaining two years of the <br /> program that is administered by the Mashpee dousing Authority. <br /> Leila Botsford and Carol Mitchell of the Dousing Authority were in attendance to <br /> review statistics and expense reports relative to the Housing Assistance Program <br /> tended by the CPA program in May of 2012, a grant award of 100,000 per year, <br /> -$300,,000 for the three-year period. <br /> Ms. Botsford indicated that under the program guidelines,the Housing Authority <br /> is required to update the Community Preservation on the program activity every <br /> six months. At the last meeting,the Housing Authority was encouraged by the <br /> CPC t apply for additional funding. The Housing Assistance Program has <br /> currently completed its first year. <br /> Assistance is granted on several factors which include; income eligibility, reed, <br /> the length of assistance needed, and the ability to become self-sufficient. Each <br /> application is reviewed on a bi-annual basis. <br /> The program encompasses housing assistance in one or more of the follovAng <br /> areas; on-going, short terra rental assistance (12-24 mon orae-time assistance <br /> for first/last/security deposits, orae-time emergency assistance for rent, mortgage <br /> assistance for short terra 1-3 months), and down-payment assistance for irst- <br /> titae homebuy rs. <br /> It was disclosed that most of the recipients, approximately. 0%receive housing <br /> assistance for on-going, short term rental assistance(12-24 months).
