A suggestion arose to review and add to the current Policy that <br /> No Place for Hate is a community action program. <br /> School issues follow a grievance procedure. Joyce M. asked <br /> what authority does the AA Committee have. Myrna N. stated <br /> that the AA Committtee has a role to provide a communication <br /> forum. Myrna would like to hand the criteria to coi-Liplainants <br /> before it comes to the AA Committee. She would like to provide <br /> civil rights support to those unemployed. We need to define <br /> a procedure to get to the hearing committee . Joyce M. will <br /> look into this with legal counsel . Norma K. suggested looking <br /> into the MCAD guidelines . <br /> Supt . Fleury stated that professional employees have rights. <br /> After the 4th year they have professional status . Up to 3 years <br /> teachers have non-professional status and are given an <br /> improvement plan. <br /> Marilyn F. needs to keep her role removed from the hearing <br /> comiiiittee. She would work with the Town Administrator if there <br /> were a complaint filed. It is complicated with the <br /> Superintendent as the person to advocate if complaints are <br /> against the Superintendent . Joyce M. will call Town Counsel <br /> regarding instituting changes and MCAD. Myrna N. suggested <br /> developing a chain of command. <br /> The essays on No Place for Hate will be displayed on <br /> colorful poster board in the Town Hall on petition walls . <br /> Myrna N. suggested that the AA Committee remain impartial so <br /> as to function as an equal hearing board. Perception is a <br /> serious component, and individuals on the committee need to <br /> reserve their comMents. The Committee needs to establish a <br /> clear cut agenda.
