AFFIRMATIVE ACTION COMMITTEE <br /> MINUTES OF MEETING JULY 27, 2004 <br /> PRESENT: Norma Kumin, Melbourne Cragwell, Marilyn Farren, Myrna Nuey, Elaine <br /> Good. <br /> Jan Strickland arrived at 5:05 p.m. <br /> Meeting opened at 4:45 p.m. <br /> Marilyn F. reviewed the article that is being submitted for the October Annual Town <br /> Meeting warrant, which is to create a full-time position of Equity/Affirmative Action <br /> Compliance Officer and allocate $75,042.16 for this position for the following: $56,701 to <br /> Salary Account, $5,000 to the Expense Account, $822.16 to Medicare Account, $12,483 <br /> to Medical Insurance Account and $36 to Group Insurance Account. <br /> The Committee reviewed the job descriptions from Arlington, Falmouth and Barnstable <br /> for their comparable positions. Both George Spyvy from Falmouth and Irene Carrington <br /> from Barnstable visited and reviewed their positions with the Committee on a previous <br /> occasion. <br /> The Committee voted to go forward and create this position in Mashpee. <br /> The job title will be Equity/Affirmative Action Compliance Officer. The vote reflects 4 <br /> yes, l opposed. <br /> Craigwell M. suggested ECO, Equity Compliance Officer. <br /> The Committee reviewed and revised the job descriptions from Barnstable and <br /> Falmouth, and Marilyn F. will compile these revisions into a job description for Mashpee. <br /> It is important to include "ability to work with a diverse racial and ethnic population of all <br /> ages." The job duties will include serving the Town and School community. <br /> The final draft will be presented to the Selectmen on Monday night. Jan S. will attend. <br /> The position will begin in January 2005, and the allocation of funds will reflect this <br /> modification. <br /> Next meeting: August 10th, 4:30 p.m. <br /> Adjourned 6:30 p.m. <br /> It has been recommended by Town Counsel that the Committee work on a Mission <br /> Statement and refer the recent complaint to the District Attorney's Office and Attorney <br /> General's office. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Mary Gelsthorpe, Recording Secretary <br />
