of <br /> Q1413wn Na <br /> WdftANCE COMMITTEE <br /> FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES <br /> Town Hall <br /> March 1 , 1956 <br /> Present : Finance Committee members , Frederic Blythe , Carl Meller , <br /> Joyce Howell , Lou Hrone , Elizabeth Terry , and William <br /> Towner <br /> The Finance Committee meeting convened at 6 p .m. ,Joseph F <br /> Murphy , Executive_ Secretary and Jean 'Thomas , Selectman jolined <br /> the meeting to discuss the SelectmnIs FY -budget andrthe <br /> Building Inspector/Inspections budget . <br /> Mr . Murphy explained the $150, 000 requested for Legal. <br /> and Engineering in the FY87 budget . $15 , 000 of this figure <br /> was for engineering and the remainder'- of the monies for legal. <br /> fees . $52 , 200 of the legal fees were for the 'down Counsel. <br /> Mr . Murphy explained that it was the intent of the by-lags to <br /> have the Selectmen responsible for legal matters of the town . <br /> All legal matters should be channelled throuh the Town Counsel . <br /> In reference to the Board of Health ' s request for $50 , 000 for <br /> legal. fees , Murphy responded that there is money in the account <br /> for the Board of Health , however , this money is never granted <br /> indiscriminately . <br /> The Selectmen budget requested $3 , 000 for out-of-state <br /> travel . Chairman Blythe explained that certain other budgets <br /> had also requested out-of-state travel expenses . In an effort <br /> to deep records on this it was decided that there should only <br /> be one out-of-state travel 'account and out-of-state travel <br /> must be approved by the Selectmen . The recommendation of the <br /> Finance Committee was to eliminate all out.-of-state travel <br /> in all other budgets . Out-of-state travel was consolidated <br /> i in the Selectmen ' s FY87 budget and the figure set at $5 , 000. <br /> i <br /> The Finance Committe voted approval of the Selectmen ' <br /> budget with the change in the out-of-state travel. expense , <br /> The budget is as follows : <br />
