getting starting but there are currently a dozen interested students involved, "Pancakes for Peace"will <br /> occur in the high school's cafeteria and a white banner will be posted and attendees will be able to share a <br /> name or thought in black ink in memory of Martin Luther King,Jr. Speakers will discuss issues of <br /> diversity and discrimination at the breakfast. Pro-Start, another group at the high school,will cook the <br /> pancakes. Ms. Vaughn hopes to have a number of groups involved with the event. Organizers are <br /> considering hosting the event on the Saturday prior to Martin Luther King Day so that the entire <br /> community can participate. Advertising will be placed in the school newspaper and on the school's <br /> television channel. The event will not be a fundraiser, an appeal for donations will be considered to cover <br /> the costs of the event. Ms. Vaughn also suggested a bookmark for the event, incorporating students from <br /> Quashnet who could create them. Ms. Boco can be reached at lucffle...boco,,,'j� 21g?q�sL.Lorn. <br /> .......... <br /> World of Difference Calendar Art Contest 2010 <br /> Ms. Farren reported that the presentation to the Quashnet School was made on September 11 and the <br /> deadline for,artwork was October 2. Approximately 50 drawings were received by the ADL from <br /> Quashnet. Ms. Farren has the drawings on a disc, some of which are on display at the school. <br /> Additional Future No Place for Hate Activities: <br /> Mashpee Reads-November 17 has been promoted as"Drop Everything and Read" to encourage members <br /> of the community to read for 15 minutes. The event is part of a program to help Mashpee reach its goal of <br /> reading 150,000 books by April 2010. <br /> Ethics/Conflict of Interest and Open Meeting Law <br /> Mashpee is sponsoring the workshop at Town Hall at 2pm on November 6.
