lower the age to 65, to increase the asset allowances from $20,000 to $50,000, and to tie in the <br />income to the COLA adjustments every year with the State. Mr. Streebel's third suggested change <br />would be to reduce the 5 -year residence requirement for veterans to 1 year in order to be eligible for <br />Mashpee veterans' exemptions. Mr. Streebel stated that warrant articles must be submitted to the <br />Board of Selectmen no later than February 9, 2015. <br />Paul Andrews made a motion to have Town Counsel draft the following three warrant articles: (1) to <br />reduce the age of applicants on the 41C Senior Exemption from 70 to 65; (2) to adjust the income and <br />asset allowances in order to allow a cost of living adjustment every year; and (3) to reduce the 5 -year <br />residence requirement for veterans to one year in order to be eligible for Mashpee veterans' <br />exemptions. Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved by a vote <br />of (3-0). Gregg Fraser recommended that the BOS review the draft warrants to ensure their approval <br />prior to submission to the Town Manager, <br />Paul Andrews made a motion to close the Public Session and enter into Executive Session, to return <br />to the Public Session, for the purpose of discussion of abatement and personal exemption applications <br />received by the Assessing Department. Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. Roll Call Vote: Paul <br />Andrews, yes; Sheldon Holzer, yes; Gregg Fraser, yes. The motion was unanimously approved by a <br />vote of (3-0). The Public session was adjourned at 6:10 PM. <br />The Public Session reconvened at 6:25 PM. <br />Paul Andrews made a motion that the Board of Assessors grant as recommended the 276 personal <br />exemptions listed on report # E20150121 G, beginning with the name Aguilar, Frank, and ending with <br />the name Zuwallack, Rebecca A, using their rubber stamp signatures on the legal applications. <br />Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved by a vote of (3-0). <br />Paul Andrews made a motion that the Board of Assesssors approve the abatement of $5,593.23 in <br />uncollectible taxes from 2009. Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. The motion was approved by a <br />vote of (3-0). <br />Paul Andrews made a motion that the Board of Assessors deny the Blindness Tax Exemption <br />application, Clause 37A, from Jacqueline Dixon, 35 Pine Hill Blvd., as the applicant does not qualify. <br />Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved by a vote of (3-0). <br />ADDITIONAL TOPICS <br />Paul Andrews made a motion to add to the agenda a discussion of a 41-A $2015 property tax deferral <br />request by Elaine Avis. Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. The motion was approved by a vote of <br />(3-0). <br />The Board agreed to defer discussion of the request from Elaine Avis to the next scheduled Board of <br />Assessors meeting. <br />NEXT MEETING The next meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at 6:00 PM, <br />Mashpee Town Hall. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />As there was no further business, Paul Andrews made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. <br />Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved by a vote of (3-0). The <br />meeting was adjourned at 6:30 PM. <br />2 <br />
