lower the age to 65, to increase the asset allowances from $20,000 to $50,000, and to tie in the income to the COLA adjustments every year with the State. Mr. Streebel's third suggested change would be to reduce the 5 -year residence requirement for veterans to 1 year in order to be eligible for Mashpee veterans' exemptions. Mr. Streebel stated that warrant articles must be submitted to the Board of Selectmen no later than February 9, 2015. Paul Andrews made a motion to have Town Counsel draft the following three warrant articles: (1) to reduce the age of applicants on the 41C Senior Exemption from 70 to 65; (2) to adjust the income and asset allowances in order to allow a cost of living adjustment every year; and (3) to reduce the 5 -year residence requirement for veterans to one year in order to be eligible for Mashpee veterans' exemptions. Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved by a vote of (3-0). Gregg Fraser recommended that the BOS review the draft warrants to ensure their approval prior to submission to the Town Manager, Paul Andrews made a motion to close the Public Session and enter into Executive Session, to return to the Public Session, for the purpose of discussion of abatement and personal exemption applications received by the Assessing Department. Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. Roll Call Vote: Paul Andrews, yes; Sheldon Holzer, yes; Gregg Fraser, yes. The motion was unanimously approved by a vote of (3-0). The Public session was adjourned at 6:10 PM. The Public Session reconvened at 6:25 PM. Paul Andrews made a motion that the Board of Assessors grant as recommended the 276 personal exemptions listed on report # E20150121 G, beginning with the name Aguilar, Frank, and ending with the name Zuwallack, Rebecca A, using their rubber stamp signatures on the legal applications. Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved by a vote of (3-0). Paul Andrews made a motion that the Board of Assesssors approve the abatement of $5,593.23 in uncollectible taxes from 2009. Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. The motion was approved by a vote of (3-0). Paul Andrews made a motion that the Board of Assessors deny the Blindness Tax Exemption application, Clause 37A, from Jacqueline Dixon, 35 Pine Hill Blvd., as the applicant does not qualify. Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved by a vote of (3-0). ADDITIONAL TOPICS Paul Andrews made a motion to add to the agenda a discussion of a 41-A $2015 property tax deferral request by Elaine Avis. Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. The motion was approved by a vote of (3-0). The Board agreed to defer discussion of the request from Elaine Avis to the next scheduled Board of Assessors meeting. NEXT MEETING The next meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at 6:00 PM, Mashpee Town Hall. ADJOURNMENT As there was no further business, Paul Andrews made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved by a vote of (3-0).
