Numbers for Bridges of Epoch
The Chair spoke with Michelle Springer and clarified that the six affordable units would not be
counted towards Mashpee's total affordable housing count. They are not counted because they
are rooms and not units. Selectman Richardson had expressed frustration that the units would
not be counted and Chairman Abbott read correspondence indicating that the State required that
assisted living facilities would be required to meet the same guidelines as a regular apartment.
Foreclosure Update
The Chair also confirmed with Ms. Springer that affordable units could be lost due to
foreclosure. The Chair was stilling trying to determine whether the second unit at Main Street
had been lost due to foreclosure.
NEW BUSINESS
MAHPP
Mr. Isbitz reported that Phil DeMartino planned to finish and send to the Town Manager his
comments regarding the Plan. The Plan had been referred to DHCD Counsel because of the gap
in time between the completion of the document and the submission time and the fact that the
Committees and Boards involved would have experienced turnover. Counsel determined that the
Plan conformed to the requirements, with some minor changes. In light of the changes in the
local governmental bodies, DHCD would like the document with changes reapproved. Mr. Isbitz
would be receiving the document after it was received by the Town Manager, and a copy would
also be sent to Town Planner Tom Fudala. Chairman Abbott will follow up with the Town
Manager and offer to follow up on the process. Mr. Isbitz clarified that once approved, the Plan
would be good for five years. Mr. Isbitz recommended that consideration of the MAEPP be
added to the next agenda.
Mashpee Housing Authority
The Chair reported that MHA Housing Director Leila Botsford indicated that she may be able to
attend AHC meetings during the summer. Reference in her communication was made to the
Board of Selectmen's decision to withdraw the MRA's CPC approved request for $330,000 and
allegations regarding an audit. The program the money would have funded will end June 30.
Mr. Johnson recommended inviting the newly appointed Town Manager to attend an AHC
meeting as soon as possible in order to summarize and provide an update about affordable
housing compliance and the importance of certifying the housing plan. The Chair noted that just
six towns in Massachusetts have certified affordable housing plans.
EDUCATION/MARKETING
WAMPANOAG TRIBE UPDATE
Status of Housing Project
The Chair confirmed that the road had been installed.
NEWS
CORRESPONDENCE
2
