Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> March 1 , 2003 <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Town of Barnstable—'Town Counsel: <br /> Correspondence was received from Audrey Loughnane, Town Counsel to <br /> the Town of Bamstable dated February 18, 2003 relative to the essential <br /> need to track the ecosystem of Cape Cod Bay. <br /> A letter was drafted to the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority,the <br /> Regional Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, and the <br /> Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection requesting <br /> that the monitoring program required by the National Pollutant and <br /> Discharge Elimination System permit and the associated contingency plan <br /> be essential in tracking the ecosystem of Cape Cod Bay. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to join the Town of Barnstable <br /> and send a letter of support for the ecosystem of Cape Cod Bay to the <br /> above regulatory agencies as referenced. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 3-04 <br /> Selectman Taylor absent for vote. <br /> Proposed.Legislation—Offshore Renewable Energy Projects: � <br /> Representative Delahunt has introduced legislation that would create more <br /> vigorous federal regulations for offshore renewable energy projects, <br /> including the one proposed by Cape Wind Associates. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to send a letter of support on <br /> the renewable energy projects before the House as proposed. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. -o. <br /> Selectman 'Taylor absent for vote. <br /> Governor rye—Calc Visit: <br /> l ashpee officials conducted a conference call with members of Governor <br /> Romney's Office of Administration and Finance. It was noted that <br /> llahp 's proposed Chapter 70 budget reduction is based on flawed <br /> enrollment numbers. The Superintendent of Schools 'I's resubmitting the <br /> enrollment figures to hopefully correct the inequity. Governor Romney is <br /> scheduled to visit Sandwich on Wednesday to discuss his budget proposal. <br />
