Board of Selectmen Minutes March 1 , 2003 COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: Town of Barnstable—'Town Counsel: Correspondence was received from Audrey Loughnane, Town Counsel to the Town of Bamstable dated February 18, 2003 relative to the essential need to track the ecosystem of Cape Cod Bay. A letter was drafted to the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority,the Regional Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection requesting that the monitoring program required by the National Pollutant and Discharge Elimination System permit and the associated contingency plan be essential in tracking the ecosystem of Cape Cod Bay. Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to join the Town of Barnstable and send a letter of support for the ecosystem of Cape Cod Bay to the above regulatory agencies as referenced. Motion seconded by Selectman Green. VOTE: Unanimous. 3-04 Selectman Taylor absent for vote. Proposed.Legislation—Offshore Renewable Energy Projects: � Representative Delahunt has introduced legislation that would create more vigorous federal regulations for offshore renewable energy projects, including the one proposed by Cape Wind Associates. Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to send a letter of support on the renewable energy projects before the House as proposed. Motion seconded by Selectman Green. VOTE: Unanimous. -o. Selectman 'Taylor absent for vote. Governor rye—Calc Visit: l ashpee officials conducted a conference call with members of Governor Romney's Office of Administration and Finance. It was noted that llahp 's proposed Chapter 70 budget reduction is based on flawed enrollment numbers. The Superintendent of Schools 'I's resubmitting the enrollment figures to hopefully correct the inequity. Governor Romney is scheduled to visit Sandwich on Wednesday to discuss his budget proposal.
