i <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> April 7, 2003 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Request for Approval—TWo ( ) Grant Applications/Fire Chief: <br /> - <br /> Fire Chief George Baker Was present to request the Selectmen approve <br /> two grant applications. <br /> Under the FEMA Fire Act Grant program, Mashpee is eligible to apply for <br /> funding to obtain a new Wild land fire fighting vehicle. A grant narrative <br /> proposed for the 8 7,000 interface firefighting vehicle Was attached to <br /> the memorandum of March 27, 2003 relative to the grant request. If <br /> attained, participating conirnunities are required to provide 10% in <br /> matching funds, It Was noted that the vehicle has been a capital <br /> improvement program need of the department for several years. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to approve the application for <br /> funding from F MA's Fire Act grant program as described. r <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VO : unanimous. -o. <br /> The grant, if attained Would be subject to October Town Meeting <br /> appropriation to acquire the 10%match. It Was noted that there is no <br /> additional department training required for grant funding. <br /> The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service also have a grant that Mashpee is <br /> eligible for funding from the rural assistance grant program. Funding <br /> Would allow for the purchase of land fare fighting equipment. <br /> Specifically, in the grant amount request of$3,000, a portable floating <br /> pump, hose and attachments Would be purchased. <br /> Motions made by Selectman Ma.rsters to approve the U.S. Fish and <br /> Wildlife Service grant application in the amount of$3,000. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. -o. <br /> The above referenced grant, if attained Would also require 10% in <br /> matching funds. If the grant Were awarded, the Fire Department would <br /> assume the matching funds Within the FY04 departmental budget. <br />
