11. <br /> Community Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> December 13, 2016 <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Letter of Interest from Anthony Pizzo to serve„on,CPC as an At-Large Member: <br /> The CPC interviewed Anthony Pizzo for consideration to fill the at-large member vacancy. <br /> When considering the 10%Reserve categories of the CPC in the area of Open Space/Recreation, <br /> Historic Purposes and Affordable Housing,Mr. Pizzo was asked of his greatest passion. In <br /> response Mr. Pizzo indicated he has lived in the largest city in Vermont, and is passionate to <br /> bring content within a community while maintaining preservation. Mr. Pizzo indicated he has <br /> been aware.bf the CPC vacancy and has considered serving on the CPC for a number of years. <br /> As previously noted,there are projects brought forth to research and Mr. Pizzo would bring forth <br /> additional information to assist the CPC in the decision making process. <br /> Letter of Interest from Thomas Haberlin to„serve on CPC as an At-Large Member: <br /> The CPC then met with Thomas Haberlin who recently moved to the Town of Mashpee. Mr. <br /> Haberlin indicated the Mashpee community has exceeded his expectations. His wife volunteers <br /> with the Friends of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge, and Mr. Haberlin stated he felt the <br /> Community Preservation Committee vacancy was an opportunity to pursue. Mr. Haberlin has an <br /> extensive background in city government and planning. Over the years Mr. Haberlin has <br /> participated in projects of varying sizes and budgets with Planning Departments, in Economic <br /> Development and Historic Commissions. Mr. Haberlin was a former City Planner and made <br /> note of his keen ability to compromise and to coordinate. Mr. Haberlin stated he is noted to be a <br /> very cordial and collegial type of person and would be happy to offer the CPC his expertise. <br /> In closing it was agreed both candidates would be a good fit to fill the at-large vacancy. Mr. <br /> Pizzo is very passionate and has lived on Cape Cod for a number of years. Mr. Haberlin has <br /> many years of experience and has served his previous place of residency well. <br /> Motion made by Ms. Waygan to communicate to the Board of Selectmen prior to their <br /> December 19,2016 meeting,and indicate the CPC has met with both candidates under <br /> consideration for the at-large appointment. The CPC has deemed both candidates well <br /> qualified and would be a suitable match for the CPC. Therefore the CPC turns to the <br /> Board of Selectmen,the appointing authority to make the determination for appointment. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Shaw. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 6-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Mr.Halpern,yes Mrs.Buschenfeldt,yes Ms. Waygan,yes <br /> Mrs. Sherman,yes Mr. Shaw,yes Mrs. Thayer,yes <br /> It was determined that both resumes would be attached to the communication to the Board of <br /> Selectmen. <br />
