The Director congratulated the Friends of the Council on Aging who received the Town's <br /> Thanks for Giving Award at a ceremony in March. The Town recognized the work the <br /> Friends have done to make the community a better one for its senior residents. <br /> The Director listed her goals: begin preparing for the annual inventory, work with co- <br /> chair on COAST meetings for 2016, and begin reviewing the budget for the end of the <br /> fiscal year. <br /> Motion: Ernie Cornelssen moved to accept the Director's report, seconded by <br /> Norah McCormick. Vote unanimous 7-0. <br /> TREASURER'S REPORT <br /> Director Waterman distributed the budget report and briefly reviewed the numbers. <br /> Motion: Ginny McIntyre moved to accept the Treasurer's Report, seconded by <br /> Ernie Cornelssen. Vote unanimous 7-0 <br /> OUTREACH COORDINATOR'S REPORT <br /> Darlene Perkins, Outreach Coordinator distributed her report for the month of March and <br /> highlighted: Fuel Assistance, Friendly Visitors, Hoarding, SNAP, SHINE, <br /> transportation, homecare. She noted she meets with the domestic violence officer from <br /> the Mashpee Police department regarding seniors who need referrals. She also noted 32 <br /> people participated in the Brown Bag Program with 7 volunteers helping her. <br /> The Outreach Coordinated met with volunteers and stated 13 Mashpee residents turned <br /> 90+and received flowers and she met with friendly visitors and telephone a friend <br /> volunteers. She also met with the new volunteer for grief calls, one new legacy, one in <br /> office volunteer, VNA Community Nurse,Elder Services Board of Directors, <br /> Independence House Counselor and Tour of Community Health Center. She also <br /> attended trainings on Friendly Visitors, LGBT Aging Project, and Hoarding Task Force. <br /> Motion: Jack Jordan moved to accept the Outreach Coordinator's Report, <br /> seconded by Ginny McIntyre. Vote unanimous 7-0 <br /> (Jean Noussee left the meeting) <br /> VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR REPORT <br /> Director Waterman distributed the volunteer coordinator report for March and noted the <br /> Senior Center has approximately 200 volunteers and the Volunteer Coordinator recently <br /> attended four courses provided by BU on mental health and older seniors.
