COUNCIL ON AGING MINUTES SEPTEMBER 14, 2016 Present: Council on Aging Members: Ernie Cornelssen, Mary Gaffney, Jean Noussee, David Egel, Jack Jordan, Council on Aging Director Lynne Waterman and Outreach Coordinator Darlene Perkins. Also Present: Catherine Laurent, DPW Director Absent: Virginia McIntyre,Norah McCormick, Marijo Gorney, Irving Goldberg Chairman Ernie Cornelssen opened the meeting at 8:35 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES -August 10,2016 Motion: David Egel moved to approve the minutes of August 10,2016,seconded by Mary Gaffney. Vote 5-0 Public Comments COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE DIRECTOR'S REPORT Director Lynne Waterman distributed her report for the month of August. The Director highlighted she met with several leaders of various ongoing activities. The Director has planned several new activities for the fall and is handling these responsibilities until a new activity coordinator is hired. The Director stated the lift on the CCRTA van was repaired. The Director and Outreach Coordinator met with the van drivers at their monthly meeting. She noted one of the van drivers conducted an outreach presentation at one of the local senior housing sites. The Director reviewed various building repairs and maintenance for the month. The Director reviewed staff coverage and training and scheduled a staff training to be conducted by MIIA in November. She thanked the Council on Aging members who are assisting while the department is short staffed. The Director and Volunteer Coordinator completed the review of the staff's use of volunteers, planned a volunteer focus group and scheduled two future volunteer trainings. The Director listed several meetings she attended. She noted she and the Outreach Coordinator participated in the Mashpee Police Department's first annual Night Out community event. The Director and Outreach Coordinator completed the annual SGA report and submitted it to the State Executive Office of Elder Affairs.
