MASHPEE CULTURAL COUNCIL Minutes of the Meeting Monday, December 5, 2016 Mashpee Senior Center Present: Nina Cocomazzi,Sarah Daley, Robert Mendes, Bruce Taggart, Dawn Thayer, Lynne Waterman Meeting officially called to order at 9:00 a.m. • B.Taggart made a motion to approve the minutes of the Mashpee Cultural Council (Mashpee CC) meeting of November 14, 2016. R. Mendes seconded the motion. All in favor. • B.Taggart presented the Treasurer's Report–received one(1) re-submittal request and one (1) request for payment. Members are asked to review the Mashpee CC Annual Report on the Mashpee website. • S. Daley reported that the denial letters were sent out on November 15, 2016; approval letters will be mailed on December 6, 2016. Copies of contract requirements and reimbursement form to be mailed along with approval letters. • Moving forward, members are asked to review guidelines annually to be sure they are in line with the grant submission process. • Discussion of Mashpee CC 2017 community event and marketing Mashpee CC. A theme is necessary for a community event, L.Waterman suggested marketing Mashpee CC as wide as possible—participate in annual community picnic? Several other options were discussed such as sponsoring a band at a Town Night Out; participation in Halloween Trunk or Treat; partnering with Town, Library, school or other community outreach event. Other suggestions are welcome. J. Miller willing to submit application to promote Mashpee CC in partnering with, or participating in, a community outreach event. He will check with the Mashpee Police Department; R. Mendes will check with the Library, and S. Daley will check with the Mashpee Public Schools. • Discussion of Mashpee CC Chair for 2017. S. Daley's term as Chair is up in February 2017, B.Taggart's as Treasurer in September 2017. Also, recruitment of new Council members requires further discussion. • Mashpee CC will reconvene on Monday,January 23, at 9:00-10:00 a.m., Mashpee Senior Center. Topics for discussion: Mashpee CC event 2017; Mashpee CC Chair 2017; recruiting new Council members (new, members–3 year commitment,with a maximum of 6 years). Council consists of 9 members maximum, 5 minimum. Recruiting tools: Facebook, Mashpee Senior Center Newsletter, Mashpee Enterprise. • R. Mendes made a motion to adjourn. N.
