Environmental Oversight Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> February 10, 2016 <br /> Present: Michael Talbot, Dale McKay, Joseph Cummings, Rick York <br /> Absent: Andrew McManus, Andrew Gottlieb <br /> Attendees: Katelyn Cadoret, Assistant Conservation Agent <br /> Sheila Place, Tow of Barnstable <br /> Don Mallinso, Town of Falmouth <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Talbot at 6:35 p.m. <br /> Mashpee Town Hall, Ockway Bay Meeting Room <br /> MINUTES: <br /> December 9 2015: <br /> January-.1.3,...2016: <br /> It was agreed the above referenced minutes would be deferred to the next meeting. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Invite to Sheila Place Barnstable and Don Mallinso Falmouth• <br /> At their December meeting, the EOC voted unanimously to develop a bylaw to restrict single use <br /> plastic bags. In considering a restriction on the use of single use plastic bags, the Chairman of <br /> the EOC invited Sheila Place from the Town of Barnstable and Don Mallinso from the Town of <br /> Falmouth to review their campaigns to promote the restricted use of single use plastic bags at the <br /> next Environmental Oversight Committee meeting. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Single-Use Plastic Baia Reduction Bylaw;_Discussion with Sheila Place on Barnstable Ordinance <br /> and Falmouth Bylaw with Don Mallinso: <br /> Members of the EOC met with Sheila Place and Don Mallinso to obtain insight on the <br /> prohibition of single-use plastic bags in the Town of Mashpee. To develop an understanding of <br /> the process Ms. Place and Mr. Mallinso gave an overview of the process that was used to <br /> promote awareness and acceptance at their respective town meetings. <br /> Ms. Place and Mr. Mallinso are members of the Cape Environmental Action group which is <br /> comprised of several Cape towns. In concern to the fragile environment, the campaign began. <br /> The first initiative was to schedule the airing of the documentary"Bag It"to a large crowd at the <br /> Cape Cinema. Thereafter a joint effort was initiated to promote awareness with Stop& Shop and <br /> the Market Basket where free reusable grocery bags were distributed. <br />
