COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE: Invite to Sheila Place Barnstable and Don Mallinso Falmouth• At their December meeting, the EOC voted unanimously to develop a bylaw to restrict single use plastic bags. In considering a restriction on the use of single use plastic bags, the Chairman of the EOC invited Sheila Place from the Town of Barnstable and Don Mallinso from the Town of Falmouth to review their campaigns to promote the restricted use of single use plastic bags at the next Environmental Oversight Committee meeting. NEW BUSINESS Single-Use Plastic Baia Reduction Bylaw;_Discussion with Sheila Place on Barnstable Ordinance and Falmouth Bylaw with Don Mallinso: Members of the EOC met with Sheila Place and Don Mallinso to obtain insight on the prohibition of single-use plastic bags in the Town of Mashpee. To develop an understanding of the process Ms. Place and Mr. Mallinso gave an overview of the process that was used to promote awareness and acceptance at their respective town meetings. Ms. Place and Mr. Mallinso are members of the Cape Environmental Action group which is comprised of several Cape towns. In concern to the fragile environment, the campaign began. The first initiative was to schedule the airing of the documentary"Bag It"to a large crowd at the Cape Cinema. Thereafter a joint effort was initiated to promote awareness with Stop& Shop and the Market Basket where free reusable grocery bags were distributed.
