MASHPEE ENVIRONMENTAL OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES DECEMBER 14,2016- 6:30 P.M. MASHPEE TOWN HALL Present: Michael Talbot,Dale McKay,Andrew Gottlieb,Rick York,Katelyn Cadoret(via phone) Absent: Andrew McManus,Joseph Cummings CALL TO ORDER Chairman Michael Talbot called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. REPORTS Katelyn Cadoret gave an update on the Conservation Department(via telephone) Conservation Department Report: Land Stewards Program: Update Katelyn Cadoret reported new members from the Senior Center will be joining the Land Stewards Program. Info will be in their newsletter. AmeriCorps has been working on directional signs and trail markers and will be coming back in January to finish the work. They will also come back in April for AmeriCorps Week to work on the Quashnet trail system and pollinator gardens She noted Mahoney's donated some plants to the Friends of Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge and were planted at Jehu. Interactive Trail Mapping: Update Katelyn Cadoret reported they are still working on the trail mapping led by Mary Kay, President of the Friends of Mashpee National Refuge along with Conservation Department, Fish and Wildlife and the Tribe. Upon completion,they will be printed out and distributed. She noted the history of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge is being worked on by Brian Carroll and hopefully will be funded by town meeting. Herring Ladder Improvements: Update for John's Pond and Santuit Pond Katelyn reported the Conservation Agent is coordinating a meeting with the State and the Federal Government to coordinate the Santuit Pond fish ladder improvements. She also reported she has written a letter of interest for a grant for John's Pond and is waiting to hear back. This includes an engineering plan and changing out the infrastructure.
