The Chairman noted at the last meeting the members discussed the opioid program and <br /> directed Gail Wilson,Director of Human Services, to take the lead and asked the Director <br /> to give an update. <br /> The Director stated she met with the Town Manager and he supported her for forming a <br /> substance abuse task force. She said she is calling it the Mashpee Substance Use Task <br /> Force which is a program of the Human Services Committee which falls under the <br /> Director's first initiative, Substance Abuse and Mental Health. She distributed a list of <br /> members that will be on the task force. The first meeting will be held on September 21. <br /> She also distributed focus questions that she sent to the members. She is getting her <br /> responses back and will be breaking down the members into subcommittees. One <br /> subcommittee will have to do with prevention/intervention and the other subcommittee <br /> will focus on treatment/recovery. <br /> The Chair encouraged members of the Human Services Committee to attend the meetings <br /> of the Mashpee Substance Use Task Force. <br /> The Director stated Falmouth did an RFP for emergency housing during the winter and <br /> they received one response from the Housing Assistance Corporation. She distributed the <br /> housing stats she received from Mashpee Housing. The Director noted she is drafting an <br /> RFP similar to what Falmouth did but stated the deadline for the funding has gone by for <br /> this year. <br /> Coordinator's Report <br /> The Director distributed her report for July. She reviewed the meetings she attended <br /> and noted the National Community Night Out was a success. She noted the regional task <br /> force will be doing a media campaign in a couple of weeks to correspond with a parent <br /> forum that will be in November. She also met with Tara Carline to talk about cases that <br /> may need follow up. <br /> The Director stated the contracts for 2017 are coming back. She suggested maybe at the <br /> next meeting we should talk about the budget which is due September 30, <br /> With a suggestion from Lynne Watermann, it was agreed to ask VNA to come to the next <br /> meeting of the Human Services Committee. <br /> Next Meeting—September 15 <br />
