5. New Business Appointment of Representative to Town of Mashpee Affordable Housing Trust Wayne Taylor explained the Town of Mashpee Affordable Housing Trust is made up of 5 members, a Selectman, and a member from FDIC, Finance Committee, Affordable Housing Committee, and CPC. He stated the Trust is allowed to borrow money and create affordable housing. They are currently working on 950 Falmouth Road to put in up to 60 units there. The Chair requested a motion to appoint an EDIC member to the Trust. Motion: Pamela McCarthy moved to appoint Denise Dutson to the Town of Mashpee Affordable Housing Trust, seconded by Robyn Simmons. Vote unanimous 4-0 Discussion and Vote to Recommend Appointment to the FDIC by the Board of Selectmen of Two New Members (Letter to be Sent to BOS) The Chair distributed two letters of interest to be appointed to EDC. One fetter is from Patrice Pimental expressing interest in the Financial Board seat and the other from Gene Olson expressing interest in the Commercial seat. Following a review of the fetters, the members agreed to recommend their appointments to the Board of Selectmen. Motion: Denise Dutson moved to recommend the appointments of Patrice Pimental and Gene Olson to the Board of Selectmen, seconded by Pamela McCarthy. Vote unanimous 4-0 Discussion on Developing a Business Plan and Objectives for the Coming Year. The Chair distributed a copy of correspondence from the town attorney with suggestions on what are the specific powers and duties of the EDIC. Following a brief discussion, it was agreed to have this discussion when the new members come aboard. The Chair also suggested discussing the role of each individual member. She also suggested having speakers come in to their meetings and it was agreed to invite Open Cape as a speaker. There was a discussion on the goals of the committee. Next Meeting: Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. ADDITIONAL TOPICS (This space is reserved for topics that the Chairman did not reasonably anticipate would be discussed) Wayne Taylor distributed a draft of a job description for a director/consultant to the Mashpee Economic Development and Industrial Corporation. Following a brief discussion, the Chair noted this could be discussed at a future meeting. Motion: Pamela McCarthy moved to adjourn, seconded by Denise Dutson. Vote unanimous 4-0
