2015 — 2016 — Quashnet School Council <br />Minutes of Meeting <br />Thursday, March 31, 2016 3:00 PM — 4:20 PM <br />Quashnet School Main Office Conference Room <br />Members Present: MaryKate O'Brien, Principal; Meg Morrison, School Adjustment <br />Counselor; Stephanie Manning, Teacher; Colleen Fraser, Sarah Provencher and Kathy <br />O'Neil, Parent Reps.; Will Cuozzo, Community Member <br />Area of Responsibility: <br />•;• Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational <br />and statewide student performance standards <br />❖ identifying the educational needs of the students attending the school <br />❖ Reviewing the annual school building budget <br />•'• Formulating a school improvement plan <br />Agenda/Minutes: <br />1. Minutes were approved from previous meeting. Discussion regarding increasing <br />consistency in the right choice ticket program continued. District wide initiative <br />regarding Positive Behavior Interventions is being planned through the MTSS <br />training. <br />2. Recommended handbook changes were presented on pages 4, 5, and 24. Changes <br />were voted on and approved to be presented to School Committee. Discussions <br />were based on whether non -school related clubs and activities should be in the <br />school handbook, It was determined they should be removed as the handbook is <br />for school policies. <br />3. The parent and staff school start time survey was reviewed, All options 1-5 were <br />discussed as presented by the committee. All members of the Quashnet School <br />Council voted on preferred options with a consensus of moving MMHS to an 8:30 <br />AM start with keeping the elementary schools the same start time. As a second <br />choice, the council voted on changing the elementary schools to an earlier start <br />rather than the 9:15 AM option. <br />
