Quashnet School Council Date: 10/20/2016 Time: 3:30-4:30 PM Location: Main Office Attendees: MK O'Brien, Margaret Morrison, Stephanie Manning, Colleen Fraser, Kathy O'Neill, Sarah Provencher Norms: • Meeting time 3:30-4:30 PM • This is a safe place to speak freely • Do not be afraid to speak your mind • Decisions will be agreed upon with a consensus of the group • Cell phones available, but sound off Mission: What We Do: • In partnership with parents, families, and community, our mission is to promote academic excellence and character development while supporting and celebrating all students as they strive towards college and career readiness. Vision: Where We Want to Be: • Our vision is for every student to reach his/her full potential in a respect -idled, safe, and positive learning environment characterized by high expectations, quality instruction, continuous improvement, and civic responsibility. Agenda Item LM Discussion Welcome 5 minutes Welcome back to 2016-17 school year. Review of Council purpose. Establish Meeting 5 minutes The Council will meet the third Thursday of the Dates month 3:30 - 4:30 PM Oct. 20, Nov. 17, Jan. 19, *March 23, May 18, June 15 *4th Thursday of March School Start Time 20 minutes School Start Time brochure was reviewed along with recommendation from the committee. School Improvement 30 minutes School Improvement Plan was reviewed. Plan Review Discussed 3 district and school objectives. Chose Objective 3: Parent and Community Engagement as a first step to determine Quashnet School's level of success in achieving stated objectives. Each council member agreed to read and review the Action Steps and Measures of Success. The council further brainstormed ways to increase parent and school engagement.
