Vater Quality Monitoring
Vater quality monitoring is on-going as a collaboration of the Town, Mashpee
.Vampanoag Tribe, and the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth SMAST. It
includes the same summer sampling protocols and stations that were used for
the Massachusetts Estuaries Project (MEP) reports and TMDL-N reports from
DEP. Also, we have permanently deployed multi -parameter sondes (YSI) in
Little River, the Mashpee River, Popponesset Bay, and a new one this year at
the site of the planned oyster restoration in Shoestring Bay (funded by the Tribe).
Water samples are collected monthly year-round at the sonde sites for lab
analysis.
New Business: Shellfish Aquaculture Grant Applications
Michael Ronhock presented his proposal for a new Aquaculture License (grant)
in Great River to grow oysters.
