MASHPEE WATERWAYS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF THE April 12th, 2016 MEETING <br />Chairman Ken Bates called the meeting to order at 9:10 AM at the Mashpee Town Hall <br />in the Popponesset Meeting Room <br />Present: Ken Bates, Stanton Healy, Don MacDonald, Tim Leedham, Al Wickel, Bill <br />Taylor, Shellfish Warden Rick York, Town Selectman Andrew Gottlieb and newly hired <br />Town Environmental technician Ashley Harrigan. <br />Absent: Don Barton <br />Minutes of the February 9th, 2016 Meeting: Motion made by Tim Leedham to approve <br />minutes, 2nd by Don MacDonald, and unanimously approved. <br />Communications & Correspondence: 1) Signed contract between the town of <br />Mashpee and Barnstable County Dredge Team, 2) Two invoices from the BSC group <br />for services provided in acquiring the town's ten year comprehensive Permit, 3) Plans <br />for utilization of Dead Neck Beach for deposit of sands from Great River/Little River <br />Channels. Hearing on this sediment disposal plan to take place at the Conservation <br />Commission agenda for 4114116 meeting. Motion made by Don MacDonald, 2nd by Tim <br />Leedham to advise Town manager to award payment to the BSC Group as shown. <br />Harbormaster Hiring Report: Ken reported he was not aware a decision has been <br />made on the new Harbormaster. Selectman Andrew Gottlieb offered some insight in to <br />the process and felt we would have a new Harbormaster by June 1st. He also mentioned <br />that there were three finalists and the Police Chief and Town Administrator would be <br />making the final selection. <br />Shellfish Constable Report; Permits <br />I have added 4,450 bags of remote set oyster seed and 10 million quahog seed to this <br />year's shellfish propagation seed permit from the Massachusetts Division of Marine <br />Fisheries. The Conservation Commission has placed on the agenda for it's meeting <br />4114116 the review and hopefully approval of the oyster bed restoration project in <br />Shoestring Bay, and reconstruction of the Little River Town Dock floats with the addition <br />of shellfish seed up -welters under the floats to grow quahog seed. <br />Personnel <br />Staff to assist the Shellfish Constable with implementation of the Shellfish Component <br />of the Comprehensive Wastewater Nitrogen Management Plan include the new <br />Shellfish and Water Quality Technician to be hired this month, and Waterways <br />
