MINUTES OF MASHPEE WATERWAYS COMMISSION MEETING <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />August 19, 2016 <br />Chairman Bates called the meeting to order at 9:02 AM at the Mashpee Town Hall in <br />the Ockway Meeting Room (this was a posted construction required room change) <br />Present: Don Barton, Ken Bates, Stanton Healy, Don MacDonald, Bill Taylor <br />Also in Attendance: Town Manager Rodney Collins, DPW Director Catherine Laurent, <br />Assistant Harbormaster Rick Santangelo and Assistant Town Manager Wayne Taylor <br />MINUTES: No action taken on minutes of meeting August 9, 2016 <br />APPOINTMENTS & INFORMATION SESSIONS: Nothing to report <br />COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE: Nothing to report <br />NEW BUSINESS: Discussion of proposed renovation of Edward J. Baker <br />ramp at Pirates Cove, Mashpee Neck <br />Catherine stated only regulatory approval required was from the Mashpee <br />Conservation Commission as the scope of the work being a "renovation" <br />was covered by existing Chapter 91 permit. <br />After reviewing engineering drawing of proposed renovations Ken noted <br />o Need to eliminate steps to improve accessibility <br />o Addition of transition plates in locations as required <br />a Possible change in float size from 6 foot x 19 feet to 8 feet by 20 feet to improve <br />float stability <br />o Need for the engineer preparing the documentation to clarify spacing between <br />plates on floats <br />o Need to re -enforce float plates where wheels of ramp move with tidal change <br />o Use stainless hardware/chain as required {lagbolts on platform/walkway} <br />Catherine clarified that all steps will be taken to make finished product as "ADA <br />accessible" as possible but that structure will never be able to be classified as "ADA <br />Compliant" because of the inherent need for a ramp <br />
