3 <br /> pUrUL REPORT TO THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> By the Sandwich Local Housing Committee <br /> November 30, 2000 <br /> The Local Housing Committee(LHC)was formed by the Selectmen in February 2000 pursuant <br /> to Section 5.0 of the Affordable Housing Element of The Sandwich Local Comprehensive Plan <br /> adopted by Town Meeting in May 1996. Since our first meeting in March, several new members <br /> have been added and others have, for personal reasons,had to resign. The LHC has been <br /> meeting, for the most part, twice a month on the second and fourth Thursdays at the Sandwich <br /> Housing Authority. Our membership currently consists of <br /> Steven Marshall, Chairman <br /> Don Dickinson, Vice Chairman <br /> Jan Timmons <br /> Tim Schmonsees <br /> Maureen Whittles <br /> Lou Cerrone <br /> Erik Van Buskirk <br /> Sharon Napier <br /> The Committee spent the first several months acclimating and educating itself to the world of <br /> affordable housing. We attended the Housing Assistance full day workshop on Housing at 4C's <br /> in April and we invited several noted experts in financial and zoning issues to our meetings. One <br /> member attended an inclusionary zoning workshop in Framingham in May. <br /> Concurrent with the process of its self-education, the Committee also toured all the affordable <br /> housing developments in town and, with the background material provided by Joanne Buntich, <br /> began to understand the various housing needs in relation to our population. <br /> Fin <br /> The Committee quickly realized that in order to have structure to the tasks and goals it was to <br /> formulate and to have credibility as it moves forward, it needed a mission statement and some <br /> broad parameters to fall under a charge of duties. To that end,the LHC unanimously adopted the <br />
