• Town of Mashpee <br />16 Great Neck Road North <br />Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649 <br />FINANCE COMMITTEE - PUBLIC SESSION <br />Mashpee Town Hall -- Waquoit Meeting Room 1 <br />Thursday, September 10, 2015 — 6:30 PM <br />Committee Members Present: <br />Christopher Avis, Chairman <br />David DelPonte, Vice Chairman <br />Tom Murphy, Clerk <br />Theresa Cook <br />Charles Gasior <br />Oskar Klenert <br />Absent: Also Present: <br />Mike Richardson Rodney Collins, Town Manager <br />Tom Mayo, Asst. Town Manager <br />Dawn Thayer <br />Rick York, Shellfish Constable <br />Brian Hyde, School Supt. <br />Patricia DeBoer, Asst. School Supt. <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chairman Chris Avis called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE — Recited. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />(1) Brian Hyde, School Superintendent, introduced himself and his Assistant School <br />Superintendent, Patricka DeBoer, to the meeting. Mr. Hyde spore about the Digital Conversion in the <br />Mashpee Public Schools and explained the strategic goal/vision behind this move as to why Mashpee <br />is doing this now: <br />a- Curriculum: To acquire/utilize digital resources that support a standards-based curriculum. <br />All of these items combine to create a digital "ecosystem" where all parts function together. <br />b- Professional development: To provide relevant and job -embedded professional <br />development that supports a digital conversion. <br />c- Access: To ensure every student has equitable access to technology resources <br />d- instruction: To utilize technology resources in pedagogically significant ways. <br />e- Infrastructure: To maintain an infrastructure that supports increasing device counts, <br />bandwidth, and software usage. <br />Brian Hyde stated that the program started last year in the 6th grade, this year will include 5th grade <br />and going forward, 7'h and Stn grades. <br />(2) Patricia DeBoer, Assistant Superintendent. Ms.DeBoer stated that since the beginning of the <br />school year, she is well into involvement in the many facets of her areas of responsibility. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />• Approval of Minutes — 8113115 <br />Terrie Cook made a motion that the minutes from the Finance Committee meeting held on Thursday, <br />August 13, 2015 be approved as amended. Oskar Klenert seconded the motion. Roll Call Vote: <br />Avis, yes; DelPonte, yes; Murphy, yes; Cook, yes; Klenert, yes. The motion was approved by a vote of <br />(5-0-1) Gasior abstained. <br />
