Ms. Walford stated that in 2015 we should be breaking off pieces of these <br />recommendations and saying we are going to try to meet this particular goal and meet this need this <br />year. <br />David DelPonte stated that the Human Services Department needs to ensure that the Finance <br />Committee is aware of the Department's goals which are drawn from the recommendations outlined <br />in the 2013 survey which cost the Town of Mashpee $35,000 in taxpayer money. <br />Gail Wilson talked about what had occurred with the Mature Workers assistant assigned to her. <br />After working for two weeks conducting extensive training with the assistant, Ms. Wilson recognized <br />that she was not going to be a good fit for the Human Services Department, Ms. Wilson is not ready <br />at this time to take on another Mature Workers assistant, but would like to have another Property <br />Tax Work -off assistant assigned to her when one becomes available. Gail Wilson is not closing the <br />door on considering another Mature Workers assistant but would like more time to think about what <br />scenario will work best for the Human Services Department. <br />• Scheduling Guest Presenters for Upcoming Meetings <br />Janice Walford suggested inviting other Town department heads to hear about how we can connect <br />with them. Ruth Elias recommended that first we complete the invitations to other contract agency <br />heads we have not yet seen, to learn about what they do. Gail Wilson suggested having an <br />Independence House representative to the next meeting. Cape Cod Healthcare representative <br />Cheryl Bartlett was also recommended. The committee agreed to continue with invitations to the <br />contract agency heads before branching out to other Town department heads. <br />• Coordinator's Report. <br />- Mashpee Cares Meeting on June 11, 2015. Purple Flag Project. A group out of Sandwich, <br />Community for a Drug Free Environment, headed by Cheryl Bartlett, purchased 1000 purple flags to <br />represent 1000 opiate deaths across Massachusetts. 333 flags will be planted in the Mashpee <br />Rotary by 10 Mashpee Project Purple students who have said they will not do drugs. <br />- Attended a meeting at Mashpee High School with John Reed, Chairman of the Human Rights <br />Commission on June 41h. The committee is undergoing a reorganization process. <br />- Barnstable County Sheriff's Office Vivitrol Program — Sheriff James Cummings <br />A report by Jessica Burgess, Director of Health Services, reports that 91% of inmates treated with <br />Vivitrol at BCCF have not been reincarcerated. <br />- Focus Groups led by Cheryl Bartleft . A 51 -page report covering 17 focus groups led by Cheryl <br />Bartlett goes through different stages of prevention, treatment, recovery recommendations, shared <br />priorities, intervention, harm reduction. Ms.Wilson will provide email copies of the report to the <br />committee members. <br />- Barnstable County Correctional Facility (BCCF) Program. Gail Wilson distributed a report on <br />the BCCF program regarding the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Program. <br />- Ongoing Unmet Needs: <br />(a) Resources for Hoarding Cases — a Psychiatric Nurse to work with residents <br />(b) Disabled residents under age 59 Y2 who need ongoing advocacy <br />(c) Residents struggling with affordable housing, long waiting lists <br />NEXT MEETING <br />The next meeting was scheduled for Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 2 PM, Mashpee Town Hall. <br />3' <br />
