LETTER FROM THE KENNETH C. COOMBS SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents/Guardians and Community Members,
Each day as I arrive as Kenneth C. Coombs School, I am reminded of the
potential each child brings and the responsibility we have to provide the
highest quality education to develop the leaders for the future. The plan
presented is developed with input from the School Council and faculty
and is aligned with the Mashpee Public Schools, Strategy for District
Improvement objectives and initiatives.
This year, members of the Kenneth C. Coombs School faculty Collaborated with district
colleagues to improve educator practice by focusing on curriculum and instruction. Many hours
have been spent aligning curriculum and defining core instructional practices that exemplify
rigor. In order for our students' achievement to meet the high standards, we must continue this
work
Recognizing that students require varying levels of challenge and support, we are committed
to identifying needs and targeting instruction to ensure our students reach their full potential.
In conjunction with the curriculum alignment, common assessments are being developed and
teachers are expanding their effective use of data to inform instruction to address individual
needs.
The educational foundation for the children in Mashpee begins at the Kenneth C. Coombs
School. I am honored to work with a group of dedicated professionals who understand the
trust that has been placed in their hands, in partnership with families and the community, we
endeavor to focus our efforts on the objectives and goals outlined in this improvement plan.
Sincerely,
Wender M. UtMin
Wendy M. Lithwin, Principal
141 www,mashpeelilma.us
a
