School Committee Meeting <br />January 7, 2015 <br />Minutes <br />Present were: Scott McGee, Don Myers, Joan Oliver, Chris Santos and Geoff Gorman. Also present was <br />Brian Hyde, Superintendent and Paul Funk, Business Manager. <br />I. Call Meeting to Order <br />Mr. McGee called the meeting to order at 6:35pm. <br />Pledge of Allegiance <br />III. Public Hearing on the FY16 Budget <br />Mr. Myers made a motion, seconded by Mr. Gorman to open the public hearing at 7pm. <br />Roll Call Vote: In favor — Mr. Gorman, Mr. Santos, Mrs. Oliver, Mr. Myers and Mr. McGee; <br />opposed — none. <br />Mr. Funk presented a power point outlining the FY16 Budget. <br />Mr. Myers made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Oliver to close the public hearing at 7:30pm. <br />Roll Call Vote: In favor— Mr. Gorman, Mr. Santos, Mrs. Oliver, Mr. Myers and Mr. McGee; <br />opposed — none. <br />IV. Public Comment <br />Phyllis Sprout Informed the Committee about an upcoming presentation on Common Core being <br />held at Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School. <br />V. Update from Student Liaison — Frederick Hanna <br />Fred Hanna updated the Committee on the recent events at the MHS. <br />VI. Preschool program — Wendy Lithwin <br />Mrs. Lithwin gave an informative update on the Preschool program. <br />VII. Mashpee High School <br />7.1 Update on Mashpee High School <br />Mr. Gilrein, Principal of Mashpee Middle/ High School gave an update on the recent <br />happenings at the School. <br />7.2 *Program of Studies <br />Mr. Myers made a motion, seconded by Mr. Santos to approve the program of studies <br />subject to receiving subsequently a more flushed out description of what the mandarin <br />program would look like over the next two years. <br />Rall Call Vote: In favor— Mr. Gorman, Mr. Santos, Mrs. Oliver, Mr. Myers and Mr. <br />McGee; opposed — none. <br />Vlll.
