3 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 4,2015 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Project P le Event A roval: <br /> Correspondence was received from Joan Peters-Gilmartin, Secretary for <br /> Communities United for a Drug Free Environment(CUDFRE)requesting the <br /> Board of Selectmen approve the Project Purple Initiative to place purple flags for <br /> each officially reported opiate related death of Cape residents. The flags would <br /> be placed on highly visible road areas for their public education/awareness <br /> campaign to brin*attention to the devastating effect of Substance Abuse. <br /> The proposed Purple Flag Public Awareness/Education Event is planned to be <br /> held during the weekend of June 19 through the 21,2015. With the Board's <br /> approval CUDFRE would plant purple nylon fabric wood-stick flags, 12"x 18"at <br /> the Mashpee Rotary on the designated weekend. <br /> Project Purple is a school based program led by students pledging not to use drugs <br /> or alcohol, and to support their peers. <br /> Selectman Richardson, a member of the Masbpee Cares organization <br /> recommended the Board's approval of this worthwhile campaign. The Town is <br /> requested to contribute$800 to support upfront costs associated to this endeavor. <br /> Monies are anticipated to be reimbursed to the Town of Mashpee. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Sherman to support the Project Purple Event on <br /> the weekend of June 19-21,2015 as referenced. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Gottlieb. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Taylor,yes Selectman Richardson,yes <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Opposed,none <br />
