Street Light Committee May 7, 2015 Minutes Members Present: Rodney Collins, Chris Avis, Catherine Laurent A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order at 7:30 am. NEW BUSINESS Request to Convert Private Street Light to Town —Canonchet Ave Chief Collins had received a request from Meredith Chadwick from 26 Canonchet Ave for conversion of a street light in the vicinity of her home. There is a private light existing but it is not operational due to lack of payment. If the Town took it over, it could potentially be converted to LED through Cape Light Compact. The Committee discussed. Based on criminal activity in the neighborhood and safety concerns, the Committee voted to recommend to the Selectmen that the Town accept the light. Request to Convert Private Street Light to Town —Route 130 at Birch Way Ms .Laurent had received a request from Alycia Markowski of the Mashpee Shores Association for conversion of the street light at the entrance to the neighborhood on Route 130. Again, if taken over by the Town, it could potentially be converted to LED. The Committee discussed and voted to recommend to the Selectmen that the Town accept the light for safety reasons at the intersection, subject to a nighttime review by the Chief. Request to Remove Town Street Light—Bayview Road Ms. Laurent had received a request from Paul Colella at 15 Bayview Road to remove the street light adjacent to his property. Even with the conversion to LED and shielding, its brightness'affects his home. The Committee discussed. Bayview Road is a dead end and the Chief is not aware of any safety concerns. The Committee voted to require Mr. Colella to obtain agreement from the other property owners/residents on the road. If there are no objections, the Committee agreed to removal of the light. OLD BUSINESS LED Street Light Demonstration Project Eversource is still showing 38 street lights as High Pressure Sodium. Ms. Laurent will further investigate. The meeting adjourned at 8,15 am.
