Mashpee Waterways Commission <br /> Minutes of the April 14th,2014 Meeting <br /> Chairman Ken Bates called the meeting to order at 9:07 AM at the Mashpee Town Hall in <br /> the Ockway Meeting Room. <br /> Present: Ken Bates,Al Wickel,Stan Healy,Bill Taylor <br /> Absent: Tim Leedham, Don MacDonald,Don Barton <br /> Also present: Mike Richardson BOS rep <br /> Motion was made by Al Wickel, 2nd by Stan Healy and unanimously approved to accept <br /> minutes of March 10d, 2015 Waterway's Commission meeting. <br /> Communications and Correspondence: Dock, ramp and float plans for 6 Great River Rd <br /> and 181 Daniels Island Rd were received. <br /> Harbormaster Report: Ken reported significant damage noted in all areas of the Bays to <br /> public and private dock and float systems following a very difficult winter. <br /> Shellfish Constable Report: No Report <br /> Mashpee Wakeby Report: Ken discussed recent article in local paper regarding efforts <br /> with the Town of Sandwich concerning beach use and lake restrictions <br /> Public Access Update:Al reported Great River boat ramp construction has been halted <br /> and Wills Works Rd was in poor condition following the rough winter. <br /> Popponesset Bay/Waquoit Bay report: Ken reported the dredge equipment was in place <br /> on Popponesset Bay and some limited activity was noted on the waters. <br /> Sewer Committee: No Report <br /> Water Quality Update: Don MacDonald reported that he is working with the Town in <br /> setting a date with SMAST for a public meeting and the 2014 water quality testing results <br /> publication. <br /> Waterways Improvement Plan and Dredging: Ken reported on SPB efforts to raise funds <br /> to purchase sand, deposit and grade the sand and plant grass to help protect the spit and <br /> Poppy Bay. He also reported that the chapter 91 license efforts were moving forward <br /> slowly and should be posted in July.After this is done,we will be able to move forward with <br /> the comprehensive plan he said. Ken also expanded on the delays and efforts to extend the <br /> time permitted to dredge in Popponesset Bay. <br />
