He said that nearly$150,000 in donations was raised this <br /> past winter. Ken mentioned that if the outer channel was extended 300 yards,it would end <br /> in six feet of water at mean low tide. <br /> Chairman Bates discussed the 6 new Town meeting Articles for the fall town meeting. <br /> Funding for the anticipated expenses for comprehensive permit preparation,inner channel <br /> dredge,$20,000.00 funding for the MPD for waterways equipment such as aids to <br /> navigation. Ken also discussed the relationship with the town and Save the Bay <br /> organization regarding the approach channel extension to Popponesset Bay. Stephen Mone <br /> mentioned the deteriorating condition of the Great river channel into Waquoit Bay.Al <br /> Wickel agreed that the situation is very bad and that many boaters were complaining of <br /> contact with the bottom as they navigate in the center of the channel at any tide level. <br /> Stephen was concerned as the condition worsens many boats would be unable to leave <br /> Great River as well as Little River Marina at times other than high tide. Ken Bates noted <br /> that there were limited funds and limited time right now to address the problem but hoped <br /> upon completion of the Town Comprehensive permit plan that the Waterways' Commission <br /> could turn their efforts to Waquoit Bay issues. <br /> Motion was made to present the articles for town meeting to the town Administer,as Ken <br /> explained, by Stan Healy and 2nd by Don MacDonald and unanimously approved. <br /> Motion to adjourn was made by Bill Taylor and 2nd by Don Barton at 1052 AM. <br />
