I
TOWN OF MASHPEE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMMITTEE MINUTES
MAY 14, 2009
Members present: William Dundon, Charles Maintanis, Trish Parolski, Mert Sapers,Marilyn
Farren. Absent: Bob Wooldridge, Beverly Wooldridge, Patricia Lugo.
Also present: Theresa Cook, Selectman Liaison, Joyce Mason, Town Manager, Tom Fudala,
Town Planner.
The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m.
Tom Fudala was present to talk about the Town's progress in being ADA Compliant. He
presented an Accessibility Report, which included a self-evaluation. He is looking for an
endorsement by the Committee before he submits it. Trish Parolski moved to endorse the report
for the purpose of submission to the proper authorities, seconded by Marilyn Farren.
Unanimous.
Tom reported that Cons Com recently purchased a property for recreational use. He noted there
will be a(H)handicapped parking space for easy access to the trail.
The Minutes of March 12, 2009 were moved by Marilyn Farren, seconded by Trish Parolski.
Unanimous.
Beach Access Proiect: The Committee agreed to solicit donations for the beach boardwalk.
Brian Kehrl from the Mashpee Enterprise could do a story soliciting donations. We may also
access some funding from the current beach revetment plan. There will be a donation account
established, a dedication ceremony, and a list of donors on the program. We will be looking for
endorsement from the Cons Com. Charles Maintanis agreed to be the"cheerleader" for this
project. This project will be part of the Accessibility Report. The projected cost is $3,800 to
$4,000 for the project, a little over the original estimate of$3,500. We will start the kick off next
week for the Boardwalk Fund and cover details such as where to send checks, etc.
I
Updates: The one-room schoolhouse dedication ceremony is scheduled for May 25th. There is a
dirt path leading to the entry, in keeping with the spirit of the time. The mobi mat is mobil and
can be used for ceremonies such as this one. It is time for members to renew their interest in
continuing on the Committee for another year. The May Town Meeting went well and all
handicap support systems were in place. The new Library is due to open in May 2010. The
South Cape Village project is in a holding pattern;the Planning Board is not unanimous.
Next Meeting: July 9, 2009, 2:00 p.m.
Adjournment: Trish moved to adjourn, Mert seconded. Unanimous.
Mary G sthozpe, Recing Secretary
