i <br /> I <br /> MASIFEE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT C N TTEE MINUTES <br /> MAY 83 2008 <br /> Present: Robert Wooldridge, Beverly Wooldridge, William I undon, Charles Maintanis, Merton <br /> Sapers, Selectman Liaison Terrie Cook, School Business Manager Patricia Lugo. <br /> i <br /> The meeting opened at 2.05 p.m. <br /> John Pacheco was present to report about the disrepair and lack of sidewalks along Old <br /> Barnstable Road from Rte 151 to Mashpee Village. This would make it hard for wheelchair <br /> bound person to use. He would like to see the sidewalk repaired and extended. <br /> The first step will be to have Catherine Laurent, DPW Director, assess the damage. Second, <br /> i explore funding for these repairs and additions. Terrie Cook will talk to the Town Manager after <br /> this meeting. <br /> Ir. Pacheco can expect a call from the DPW Director and/or the Town Manager about this. <br /> The/Minute's of April 10, 2008 had some additions and corrections. They will be voted on at the <br /> next meeting. <br /> Planning and Construction Committee activities include the temporary library is on schedule to <br /> move to Joy Street at the end of this month. The contract has been approved by the Board o <br /> Selectmen. Bob noted that there is no crosswalk from the Noche Brothers parking lot. <br /> Parking patrols update by llert Sapers noted that seven more volunteers have been added for a <br /> total of nineteen. Sixteen tickets have been given out. Slime people still forget to put out their <br /> placard. The parking violation penalty is $20. <br /> The Governor signed House Bill#3499, malting it illegal to park in cross-hatch areas of <br /> handicapped spaces. <br /> Bob commented that Town meeting went well. we had large print warrants available, CART <br /> was there, Stephanie Farrell did a great job, and there was special parking for the handicapped <br /> and elderly. <br /> Neighborhood Falmouth, Inc., a new start-up organization, met at the horse Pond School, and <br /> ,Bob attended the meeting. They help with grocery shopping, screen vendors, provide companion <br /> visits, etc. They have a sign-up membership program with fees. There were vendors present, <br /> such as Home Instead and Home 11n cion, giving out information. Vere is a need for these <br /> services. Bob noted that Lynn Waterman from the Council on Aging is a very knowledgeable <br /> outreach specialist in Mah . <br /> Falmouth Cor-mission on Disabilities meets the second Monday of the month. They were in <br /> attendance at the meeting mentioned above. <br />
