Liaison to the Police Department <br /> Gail Wilson has been working on identifying a representative Froin the Police Department to sit on the <br /> Affirmative.action Corrunittee. Ms. Wilson has been in contact with'Para Carmine, the Domestic <br /> Violence Coordinator. If Ms. Carmine is unable to serve as Liaison, Ms. Farren would like to speak with <br /> the Chief of Police to identify another contact person. The Committee agreed that a Police Department <br /> Liaison. is needed. Ms. Farren also noted that cultural diversity training from the Department of Justice <br /> will occur next month so it was a good time to get a contact in place. <br /> Human Rights Commission <br /> It was noted that Jackie Fields was no longer the Chair of the Human Rights Commission.: Ms. Farren <br /> stated that she had forwarded an invitation for the Diversity Breakfast to Rosario Gomez-Dunn, who had <br /> been listed as a contact for Mashpee. It was stated that Ms. Fields would continue to be involved with No <br /> Place for:Hate communities and only 6 or 7 Cape towns are No Place for Hate communities. <br /> Paul Perry <br /> Ms. Farren stated that she has received no response from Mr, Perry regarding his involvement with the <br /> Committee. In addition to her,calls and emails, both the Board of Selectmen and the Town Clerk have <br /> sent letters. Reappointment occurs in June so the Committee agreed to wait until that time to make a <br /> decision. The Affirmative Action Committee has been listed on the Boards/Committees vacancy list. <br /> Ethics/Conflict of Interest and Open Meeting Law <br /> It was noted that the online training, located at rvv\V\v_n'1a,;s,,j.;gV t�,jic , should be completed by April , <br /> 2010. Ms. Farren stated that the training test offers multiple choice questions that do not allow the taker <br /> to move to the next question without properly answering the first question. Committee members also <br /> discussed enforcement of the new law. <br /> Future Topics to Discuss <br /> Committee members agreed that membership and the addition of a police contact are issues requiring <br /> future action. Ms. Vaughn questioned acquiring a new flag for the high school and Ms. Farren responded <br /> that she could contact Chuck Gazer who raised funds for the flag located at the rotary. Ms. Farren will <br /> also contact Superintendent Bradshaw about the process. <br /> Special Olympics <br /> Ms. Farren questioned whether or not the Committee could assist with Mashpee's Special Olympics event <br /> scheduled for May 28. Ms. Farren will contact Myriam Zuber about pencils and other materials that <br /> could be used for the event and Ms. Vaughn responded that plans to fill 6010 backpacks. The event will be <br /> dedicated to Eunice Shriver and the Shriver and Kennedy families as well as a number of political <br /> representatives will be invited. The Ivey Club will be leading the event but other students from the school <br /> will be volunteering.
