Liaison to the Police Department Gail Wilson has been working on identifying a representative Froin the Police Department to sit on the Affirmative.action Corrunittee. Ms. Wilson has been in contact with'Para Carmine, the Domestic Violence Coordinator. If Ms. Carmine is unable to serve as Liaison, Ms. Farren would like to speak with the Chief of Police to identify another contact person. The Committee agreed that a Police Department Liaison. is needed. Ms. Farren also noted that cultural diversity training from the Department of Justice will occur next month so it was a good time to get a contact in place. Human Rights Commission It was noted that Jackie Fields was no longer the Chair of the Human Rights Commission.: Ms. Farren stated that she had forwarded an invitation for the Diversity Breakfast to Rosario Gomez-Dunn, who had been listed as a contact for Mashpee. It was stated that Ms. Fields would continue to be involved with No Place for:Hate communities and only 6 or 7 Cape towns are No Place for Hate communities. Paul Perry Ms. Farren stated that she has received no response from Mr, Perry regarding his involvement with the Committee. In addition to her,calls and emails, both the Board of Selectmen and the Town Clerk have sent letters. Reappointment occurs in June so the Committee agreed to wait until that time to make a decision. The Affirmative Action Committee has been listed on the Boards/Committees vacancy list. Ethics/Conflict of Interest and Open Meeting Law It was noted that the online training, located at rvv\V\v_n'1a,;s,,j.;gV t�,jic , should be completed by April , 2010. Ms. Farren stated that the training test offers multiple choice questions that do not allow the taker to move to the next question without properly answering the first question. Committee members also discussed enforcement of the new law. Future Topics to Discuss Committee members agreed that membership and the addition of a police contact are issues requiring future action. Ms. Vaughn questioned acquiring a new flag for the high school and Ms. Farren responded that she could contact Chuck Gazer who raised funds for the flag located at the rotary. Ms. Farren will also contact Superintendent Bradshaw about the process. Special Olympics Ms. Farren questioned whether or not the Committee could assist with Mashpee's Special Olympics event scheduled for May 28. Ms. Farren will contact Myriam Zuber about pencils and other materials that could be used for the event and Ms. Vaughn responded that plans to fill 6010 backpacks. The event will be dedicated to Eunice Shriver and the Shriver and Kennedy families as well as a number of political representatives will be invited. The Ivey Club will be leading the event but other students from the school will be volunteering. Committee members offered to assist with check in for the event.
