Mashpee Affirmative Action Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> June 22,2010 <br /> Mashpee Town Hall, Meeting Room 2 <br /> Present: Co-Chair Maryanne Wray, Co-Chair Kay Brown, Marilyn Farren <br /> Absent: Deborah Vaughn <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> The meeting commenced at 5:10 p.m. <br /> APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES <br /> A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes for April 27, 2010. All voted <br /> unanimously. <br /> AGENDA ITEMS <br /> Reappointment of Committee Members <br /> Committee members discussed the removal of Paul Perry from the membership list of the <br /> Affirmative Action Committee since he has not attended a meeting during the last year or responded <br /> to communications from the Board of Selectmen, Town Clerk or Ms. Farren, Carol Sherman has <br /> been selected to serve as the new Board of Selectmen Liaison. Terri Cook has thanked members of <br /> the Committee for their work. Committee members were requested to sign the appointment book <br /> located in the Town Clerk's office after July 1. <br /> Open Meeting Law Updates <br /> Ms. Farren reported that changes to the Open Meeting Law will require more detailed agendas and <br /> minutes, highlighting specific topics to be discussed. Minutes must incorporate attachments and/or <br /> presentations. Town counsel has indicated that the law may be extended until November 1. <br /> Summer Meetings <br /> Committee members discussed resuming meetings in September and maintaining the schedule to <br /> meet the fourth Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. <br /> Joint Activity-Annual Pow Wow <br /> Myriam Zuber from the ADL had contacted Ms. Farren about whether Mashpec would have an <br /> activity at the Annual Pow Wow. Ms. Farren contacted George Spivey in Falmouth who indicated <br /> that the Falmouth No Place for Hate Committee would set up an informational table. Mr. Spivey <br /> has set up a table in the past but has offered to share the event with interested members in Mashpee. <br /> The event is July 3 beginning at 9 a.m. until the evening, setting up at 8:30 a.m. Ms. Brown offered <br /> to assist with the table from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Ms. Farren will provide Mashpee materials and banners <br /> to Ms. Brown to bring to the Pow Wow. <br /> Recap of Events <br /> Ms. Farren noted the events in which the Affirmative Action Committee has participated to include <br /> the Calendar Contest, Pancake Diversity Breakfast, High School Senior Project Session and Special <br /> Olympics. The Committee plans to attend the High School Senior Project Session again next year, <br />
