February to May, RPACT partners with students at Cape Cod Community College who serve as <br />mentors to the Mashpee Village youth and assist with various projects. Ms. Ryan announced plans to <br />also offer similar opportunities to adults as well as a year-long program. <br /> <br />Selectman Sherman indicated that volunteers would be needed for the community Christmas parade <br />and serving Thanksgiving dinner at the Senior Center. Selectman Sherman suggested contacting Mary <br />Lou at the Chamber of Commerce for the Christmas Parade and Heidi at the Recreation Department to <br />th <br />help with Oktoberfest and the 4 of July Family Picnic. Ms. Farren described previous NPFH events <br />sponsored by the Affirmative Action Committee, such as the Martin Luther King Breakfast and <br />Diversity Week, highlighting the involvement of students. Ms. Vaughn noted the goals of the <br />Committee to expand its membership. <br />who occasionally seek volunteers for special events. Ms. Ryan encouraged the Committee to contact <br />her should there be any projects for which they would like to collaborate. <br /> <br />GENERAL UPDATES <br />Mashpee Public Library Activity <br />Ms. Farren reported that 75 people attended the event, adding that the audience enjoyed the <br />performance. <br /> <br />Mashpee High School Senior Project Fair, November 2011 <br />Selectman Sherman reported that they had collected a number of names of students interested in <br />helping with community service projects and enjoyed learning about the variety of projects being <br />proposed by the students. Ms. Vaughn suggested that the Fair provides a good opportunity for the <br />students to network. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES-October 25, 2011 <br />A motion was made by Ms. Wray to accept the minutes from the last meeting. Ms. Farren <br />seconded the motion. All voted unanimously. <br /> <br />OPEN DISCUSSION <br />Ms. Farren reported that Myriam Zuber from the ADL would be leaving at the end of the month. <br />Alanna Snapstealer and Phil V <br /> <br />The South Shore NPFH will be hosting an event on Thursday, February 3 at 7 p.m. in Stoughton. The <br />event will be a speaker dinner series featuring Timothy Cruz who will discuss how to respond to hate <br />crimes.
