Mashpee Affordable Housing Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> April 3, 2012 at 6:30 pm <br /> Selectmen's Meeting Room, Mashpee Town Hall <br /> Present: Chairman Walter Abbott, Kalliope Egloff, Berkeley Johnson, Allan Isbitz <br /> Also Present: Selectmen Carol Sherman <br /> Absent: Fred Detschel <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairman Abbott called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the roll was called. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES-January 3, 2012 & February 7, 2012 <br /> There was discussion regarding whether or not minutes could be approved by a member absent from <br /> the meeting. Selectman Sherman stated that a member could not vote to approve the minutes if that <br /> member was not in attendance and participating at the meeting. Ms. Egloff and Chairman Abbott <br /> stated that there was nothing in the bylaws, Massachusetts' Open Meeting Law or Robert's Rules <br /> precluding members from voting on the minutes. Selectman Sherman had confirmed with the Town <br /> Manager that absent members could not vote on the minutes. There was discussion that a quorum of <br /> Committee members in attendance at the meeting was needed to vote on the minutes. <br /> Mr. Johnson made a motion to accept the minutes of January Yd. Chairman Abbott seconded <br /> the motion. 2 voted unanimously, 1 abstained <br /> Ms. Egloff made a motion to approve the minutes of February 7t� Chairman Abbott seconded <br /> the motion. 2 voted unanimously, 1 abstained <br /> MASHPEE COMMONS STATUS <br /> Chairman Abbott reported that Doug Storrs had been invited to attend the meeting, and had indicated <br /> that he planned to attend. Due to changes in Mashpee Commons' planning, the Chair expressed <br /> interest in having Mr. Storrs update the Committee regarding their plans as it related to affordable <br /> housing. The Chair referenced the original plan that called for 96 affordable units. The Chair also <br /> noted that Mashpee Commons' permit had been extended for another two years in December 2011. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> 209 Barnstable Road Status <br /> The parcel of land has been walked by the Committee and the Chair has heard only positive comments <br /> regarding the property. Chairman Abbott stated that the Town was following up regarding funds to <br /> pay for the feasibility study to develop the parcel and indicated that he would check on the status of <br /> that conversation. <br /> Ms. Egloff inquired whether the parcel would be turned over to the Housing Authority following the <br /> feasibility study and needs assessment. There was discussion indicating that Leila Botsford had <br /> expressed interest in the management of the property. Ms. Egloff recommended that Ms. Botsford be <br /> part of the communication with the Affordable Housing Committee and the Chair responded that he <br /> forwarded the agendas of meetings to Ms. Botsford. Mr. Johnson inquired about the number of units <br /> that would be possible at the site, but it was noted that a feasibility study would determine the <br /> appropriate number of rental units that could be constructed. <br /> Warrant Articles: Habitat for Humanity and Housing Authority <br />
