Mashpee Affordable Housing Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> May 9, 2011 at 6:30 p <br /> Meeting Zoom 3, 1fashpee Torn Hall <br /> Present: Chairman Alan Trebat, K lliope Egloff, Walter Abbott, Berkeley Johnson <br /> Also Present: Selectman Michael Richardson <br /> Absent: Fred Detschel <br /> Call to order <br /> Chairman Trebat called the roll at 6:30 p.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes-April 5, 2011 <br /> Mr. Trebat made two corrections and Mr. Johnson recommended changing "analyses" to""analysis." <br /> motion was made by Mr. Johnson to approve the minutes as amended. Mr. Abbott seconded <br /> the motion. All voted,unanimously. <br /> Draft Affordable Housing Plan <br /> A motion was made by Vis. Egloff to add Mr. Newton, Assistant Town :Manner, to the 5/9/11 <br /> meeting. Mr. Abbott seconded the motion. All voted unanimously. <br /> Mr. Newton reported that the Planning Board was seeping feedback from the Affordable Housing <br /> committee regarding the goals and objectives For the draft Affordable Housing Plan. In addition, Mr. <br /> Newton reported that he was in receipt of the 2005 Production plan that was completed by an outside <br /> consultant and could provide copies to the members of the Committee. <br /> M.r. Newton stated that the 'Down Manager has requested than Mashpee"s Commonwealth Capital be <br /> brought up to date, which qualifies the town for points and is based on a number of town-based <br /> programs. Mr. Newton stated that the:Production plan Focused on what Mashpee wished to produce <br /> for affordable housing and hove Mas planned to achieve a goal of 10%. The 2005 Production plan <br /> is now out of gate and must be brought into conformance, before the Commonwealth Capital scoring <br /> can be addressed. Mr. Newton referenced the Production plan on page 24 of the Affordable Housing <br /> Plan draft and requested that Committee members review the information. Mr. Newton noted that the <br /> strategy to meet Mashpee's affordable housing need included affordable accessory apartment rentals, <br /> Habitat for Humanity ownership, Mashpee Housing Authority rentals, friendly 40B rentals and <br /> ownership, private 40B ownership and multifamily affordable development rentals. .Ms. Egloff <br /> inquired about options that would provide affordable housing specifically to families with children. <br /> Mr. Newton stated that the 2010 census has resulted in a new housing count and population figure, <br /> creating a total need for 611 units. Mr. Newton noted that 398 additional units would be needed. It <br /> was noted that the chart would require updating. lam-. Newton asked that the Committee consider the <br /> number of units that coup be added to each of the categories. Chairman Trebat inquired whether the <br /> total number of 348 would bring 1lashpee to 10%along with existing affordable housing and Mr. <br /> Newton responded that the production plan represented an estimate and that 388 units were needed. <br /> Mr. Newton noted that units that have been permitted but not yet constructed were included in the draft <br /> production plan. Mr. Johnson inquired whether new non-affordable housing units were included.and <br /> Mr. Newton responded that it was included. fir.
