senator's office. Copies of the LIP guidelines was distributed to committee members
and audience. One thing Zella wanted to stress was that it is very important for a LIP
project to have this committee's approval and support because this project will not go
any firther without this committee. In Laura's experience once Affordable Housing
approves a LLP and the selectmen, the ZEA tends to go along. Laura also stated that i
it very important for Affordable Housing to be behind a LIP project and they
welcome that support. Alice Lopez stated she does not like this project and hasn't
from the beginning. One reason is because of its three story structures and the area is
considered the entrance to the town and has tremendous traffic. She is very concerned
about the traffic with the industrial park and restaurant if that is part of the plan still
but in her opinion it seems to be excluded. Laura stated itwasn't punt of the plan. John
Paone, having only just heard of the restaurant and light industrial area, had many
questions which were vaguely addressed by Laura who continued to say it wasn't part
of the project. Alice strongly emphasized that she doesn't want to disregard the
industrial and restaurant portion of this project as she feels it may come up after the
project has begun and it would be too late for anyone to do anything. John continued
asking Laura if she was aware of any thought/idea to develop any of the surrounding
areas for commercial purposes. Laura stated that eventually they would like to
develop the beginning part of the lot similar to the industry already there, but right
noir it was not part of the project she was presenting tonight. She could not answer
whether there would be a restaurant. Julius agrees with Alice in regards to the traffic
consideration and right now he couldn't go along with the prograrn because there isn't
enough concrete plans or thought put into traffic for the whole area. Zella stated that
the plans being presented where not plans. Laura agreed that they were in fact
preliminary plans because that is all they need to provide at this time. Typically these
types of projects will be adjusted as they go along and the law states preliminary plans
are okay at this point and the construction plans come after. Zella inquired again of
the traffic study. There has not been one because in Laura's experience that happens
after the ZA because they will request one regardless if there has been one in the
past. John pointed out that any building put in front of the housing complex would
restrict the fire departments access. Laura said the fire department didn't think so,
however, John inquired whether or not they knew of the industrial part of this project.
firm answer was not given. ,ella's problem with the project was the location. She
particularly didn't like the fact that you would have to drive through the industrial, part
to get to the housing area of the project, however, she will not let that impede her
support wi
