Other Business <br /> The Chair stated that the presence ofthe full board will be necessary, following final approval of <br /> the brochure, in order to determine future plans of the Committee. Chairman Trebat <br /> recommended that Committee members be prepared to discuss future ideas for the next meeting. <br /> Mr. Abbott suggested the need to encourage more activity in affordable housing. Mr. Abbott <br /> further stated his intent to contact HarvAch and Chatham to learn more about the mays in which <br /> they got heir start in affordable housing, noting that they have firms involved with design and <br /> development from start to finish. Mr. Abbott questioned the property at Sons of'Italy which was <br /> originally slated for affordable housing but derailed due to wastewater issues. Ir. Abbott <br /> expressed interest in identifying a company that would take on the project and be assisted by the <br /> Affordable Housing Committee. <br /> Mr. Johnson referenced the Edgartown Affordable Dousing Commission, noting a leading real <br /> estate broker's involvement and heir ability to provide updates about any appropriate properties. <br /> Mr. Abbott reported that the application for the comprehensive permits and amendments for <br /> Breezy Acres 11 have been approved. <br /> Mr. Abbott also reported that he attended the Community Preservation Act meeting, noting that <br /> money has been awarded to such projects as Habitat for Humanity, Breezy Acres, Sntuit Darr <br /> and Heritage Park. Mr. Abbott stated that applications are available, but that funds may be <br /> limited. Mr. Johnson confirmed that a project is needed in order to be eligible for CPA funding. <br /> Funding is approved by Town Meeting. Committee members discussed the application cycle <br /> noting that the group meets regularly during the application process. Selectman Richardson <br /> confirmed that 10% is set aside yearly for the CPC so money is available, noting that money is <br /> also available through the Cape Cod Commission. Upon receipt of tete letter from the Affordable <br /> Housing Committee, Selectman Richardson will convene a meeting of the Affordable Trust <br /> Board as soon as possible in order to determine if the Schooner Lane property is Friable. <br /> Selectman Richardson emphasized that, while the economy is slow, the Committee may be able <br /> to pursue other opportunities to offer assistance and upgrades to existing affordable housing <br /> units, as has been previously suggested by Vis. Egloff Mfr. Johnson noted that to do so, <br /> properties would need to be deeded for affordable housing. Selectman Richardson also <br /> questioned the eligibility of accessory apartments and trailer parks. <br /> Mr. Abbott questioned the source of affordable housing numbers, such as with group homes. <br /> The Chair suggested that Paul Rauchinskas from the Cape Cod Commission could assist with the <br /> information. Selectman Richardson offered to discuss the matter further with Mr. Abbott. <br /> Mr. Johnson questioned whether Assistant Town Manager Bill Newton had been in contact with <br /> West T isbury regarding their recent town ordinance draft to offer a reduced assessment for <br /> homes that have been voluntarily restricted as affordable housing. It was recommended that the <br /> issue be discussed with Mr. Newton. <br /> Public Comment <br /> None at this time <br />
