BAILEY, DIRECTOR of ASSESSING <br /> The regular meeting t-ias called to order by Chairman Porter <br /> at 6 : 17 p,m. <br /> MINUTES of THEMEETINGS: <br /> Minutes of The Meeting of tob r 1.1 ,YA 199 <br /> Vice Chairman DeLory referred to Fade 2 , next to Last <br /> Paragraph, Computers - Informational Seminarsf he questioned if <br /> IBM has merged with Ma Intosh or with Apple. David Bailey <br /> informed that IBM has merged with neither - MacIntosh_ and Apple <br /> are the same company; he read in today' s paper that the companies <br /> are planning a joint effort on a machine that will run many <br /> various operating systems ; he was of the opinion this would not <br /> tale place in the near future. <br /> Leslie Greig questioned why some of the Town Offices use <br /> Macintosh Computers ; he pointed out that the School Department <br /> probably uses -Macintosh for teaching . David Bailey explained <br /> that in the early years , Mac was much easier to use for desktop <br /> publishing, word processing , brochures , etc . IBM has now caught <br /> up because of Its new windows Software . Lengthy discussion <br /> followed. Mir . Bailey pointed out that the new Maclntosh <br /> Computers being purchased have the capability of utilizing IBM <br /> Software; various Departments will be able to switch from one <br /> software package to the other, <br /> i <br /> Chairman Porter referred to Pace 6 of The Minutes , next to <br /> Last Paragraph, Raw Land; David Bailey had stated that he could <br /> research this issue and present his findings to The Board. Mr. <br /> Porter informed that Mr. Bailey also had some other examples <br /> which he discussed with hien today. Chairman Porter felt that <br /> these issues would be worthwhile to present for discussion during <br /> this evening ' s Board Meeting becau-se they are surprising. <br />
