I
I
Board of Assessors MeetingPage
I
The Upcoming Abatement process
David Bailey inquired of Board Members if they would like to
schedule a daytime meeting. to deal with and keep up with the
incoming abatement applications . Upon question by Robert DeLory
regarding the 90 or so Sea dist applications , Mr. Bailey advised
that they all relate to double billings due to a computer error;
they are void bills and do not require a Board vote. Both
Chairman Porter and Leslie Greig expressed opinion that- a daytime
meeting is not necessary to handle the present applications .
Leslie Greig suggested that perhaps next month, depending on
how many abatement applications come in, The Board should revise
the present bi-monthly meeting schedule to weekly . Short
discussion followed. Upon Chairman Porter ' s recommendation to
wait another 30 days to assess the progress of the abatement
process , The Board agreed to continue Its present bi-monthly
meeting schedule.
OLD BUSINESS : .
RFP for Commercial Appraisal work and consulting Work
David Bailey informed The Board that Assessing has
advertised for the RFP in just The Enterprise; he 'has writ-ten up
an RFP - - it is ready to go out, He explained that the RFP i
essentially the sane as the previous one except the dates are
changed and the requirements are slightly stricter for the
vendors .
Mr. Bailey informed that the most significant chance he made
is the rating system. When Assessing rates the bidders , they
will be gated as ' "most advantageous" , "advantageous" ,. and "not
advantageous" . He explained that with an RFP, if someone 1
11most advantageous" , his bid can be higher than a competitor and
he can still be chosen . . . as opposed to a straight bid. Mr.
Badley stated that one of the requirements for 10most
advantageous" is that the bidder has successfully worked in
Mashpee in the past. This requirement will provide MFIC an edge,
and rightfully so the purpose of an RFP as opposed to the
straight -bid process is that someone who has worked here before
and has performed favorable work does yet an advantage,
David Bailey advised The Board that Assessing will be
sending out RFPs to MMC and to others who express interest
and request them.
