Greig, Chairman . <br /> Re : overlay status <br /> At fiscal year end the Board of Assessors have a net surplus <br /> in combined overlay accounts of approximately $900, 000 . Upon <br /> request of the Board of selectmen, The Board of Assessors will <br /> transfer this amount to a surplus account which would make it <br /> immediately available for appropriation. <br /> We recognize our limited role in making this decision but in <br /> light of the Town' s potential for receiving significant <br /> .additional education aid and the fact that this overlay <br /> surplus is in effect excess taxation from the previous several. <br /> years; this board would like to see these funds returned to <br /> the taxpayers in the form of tax relief . <br /> Town of Mashpee <br /> Board of Assessors : <br /> Leslie M.
