i
Board of Possessors Meeting Page
Assessina Department ' s New Budget continued
supposed to be a community building- for community events , and the
Town actually has a contract to this effect . . . but the
restrictions placed by the school Department on the use of the
building has made it virtually impossible for Leisure Services to
use it! ! David Bailey expressed opinion that this ratter is now
at a point where it should cone to a head soon .
NEW/OLD BUSINESS
.
New Computer software for Assessing Department -
David Bailey informed that Possessing may have the
opportunity this year to purchase the new computer software he
has been researching and discussing over the past several years .
The salary Account should have a surplus of about $15 , 000 due to
Steve being out for such a lengthy time and because a full-
time employee was not hired , the part-time employee proved
sufficient. Mr. Bailey further informed that it is his thought
to ask at the special Town Meeting if Possessing can transfer the
surplus funds to a Network Administrator' s Account in order to
purchase the software and perhaps some hardware.
Marcia King asked the cost of the new software . David
Bailey said he has a quote of $15 ,000 . Ms . King suggested he
approach the Capital committee; Mr. Bailey replied that he had
not considered this avenue, but - perhaps should. He explained
that the software purchase is actually a phase of the
pre-approved project . . . the total revamping of the software
for all of the departments this is phase 2 of the Town ' s
pro ject. Short discussion. followed.
David Bailey further explained that the project is
unfunded . . . nobody has mentioned it should be; Patriot- had
quoted $15 , 000 . . but there would have to be significant
hardware upgrades to go along with this. He does not }snow i
funding would be available for this through the normal upgrading
of equipment in the Town. He pointed out that Vision , which used
to be MMC, would love to have Possessing switch to their software.
'I t would not surprise him if Vision gave it to us . . . and if
this were the case then the company could use the money for
hardware upgrades and whatever sidework that has to be done.
David Bailey feels that Vision will not charge more than $10 , 000
for this ; however, there still remains the question of hoer
this will be paid we will have to see how this matter
progresses .
i
