r
Board of Assessors Meeting Page 2
Abatement Applications (continued)
Chairman Greig realizes that Marcia King may not have
the time to follow this procedure. He rade recommendation that
the Board could convene an Assessors Meeting at a time more
convenient to Ms. King, should she wish to look further into some
of the abatement applications . Leslie Greig feels there are not
too many properties that will require extensive research . He
informed that he will be going over Cotuit Bay Condominiums quite
thoroughly . "with a fine tooth comb" he has already
spoken with David Bailer about this research,
Both Vice Chairman Porter and Marcia ding were in favor
of Chairman Greig ' s recommendation. Ms, King will inform-either
David Bailey or Susan Collum of a specific date to schedule an
Assessors Meeting with regard to this issue. Leslie Greig made
suggestion the next Regular Board Meeting not be scheduled for
Tuesday , February 10 , so that Ms. King will have the opportunity
to choose another date . He expressed opinion that Assessing will
not receive many more abatement applications perhaps 20 or
so. Kenneth Porter expressed agreement; he informed that this is
the last week to file for an abatement. David Bailey pointed out
it is not unusual that one half of the applications may come in
during this final wee} . Discussion followed.
Upon question from Chairman Greig, Mr. Bailey informed
he was unaware that any commercial abatement applications have
been received. He pointed out that last year, Fields Point
filed on the day of the deadline . . and frequently has filed
late! ! Both Mr, Greig and Mr. Porter expressed agreement.
David Bailey questioned when the next Regular Board
M eting may be scheduled. Chairman Greig referred the question
to Marcia King with explanation that she is the only Board Member
with a ll-time job. Ms . King suggested that the meeting be
scheduled for Tuesday, February 17; she informed that Monday,
February 16 , is a holiday; she could sign the less complicated
applications previous to the next Regular Board Meeting, David
Bailey expressed opinion there will be enough work for the Board
to meet on Febuary 10 . He explained that many of these abatement
applications involve only simple errors and can be acted upon in
a very short time . . then, Board Members can spend more time
on the complicated ones. Marcia King expressed agreement. Upon
question by Chairman Greig, Nis . King informed she will be able
to attend a February 10 meeting at 6 :00 p.m.
Chairman Greig questioned if Susan Collura will deep an
abatement log this year; Mr . Bailey assured a loci will be rept.
