i
t
of the property. Mr. Bailey responded that the value lies in the core one-acre of land. While the
rest ofthe property might be excess acreage, it would all be taxed at the core value.
Mis. Denning asked if it would be possible, given that the DOR will only give a batements for
three prior years, if the Board can compensate her for the years that won't be covered by inflating
the vawlue of the parcel? llri.r. failed replied that it would not be possible, and that her biggest tax
payments would have occurred in the last fever years at any rate.
Mr. Bailed noted that Ms. Henning would be receiving a notice from the Board of Assessors in
the next few weeks regarding the current year abatement, but that it will take some time for the
abatement process to be completed by the ICOR. Mr. Bailey will send her a copy of the
information being sent to the DOR, and the Mashpee tax records will be adjusted to account for
the actual size of her property in the future.
Mrs. Henning departed the meeting at 2.25 p.m.
o ..m,---Earl and Evelyn Webb
1r. Bailey reported that Mr. and Mrs. ebb's property lies off of Sampson's Mill Toad, near the
ugat plant. The Webb"s are concerned about the value of their property since they are near the
chemical plume alleged to be emanating from the Augat plant. Mr. Bailey asked Mr. and Mrs.
Webb if they were finding any contaminants in their well. Mrs. Webb replied that tests have not
been taken directly from the well water, but only ager it has been filtered fiat. She is not,
therefore sure of the test's reliability.
Mr. Bailey noted that the Webb's property taxes were not raised this year and that two lots in a
subdivision nearby have sold which didn't seem to show an impact on the Webb's property. He
queried as to whether there was anything that would separate the Webb's property from that of
the homes nearby in value. Mrs. Webb responded that there are monitoring wells on their
property, as well as a shed housing equipment that is cleaning the water. In addition, there is a
cell tower has been installed on one side of their property. She also noted that they novo have
town water.
Mr. Bailey explained that herill drive out and take another look at the property given the above-
noted factors, but that historically neither the position of the cell tower or the Augat situation
have had a big impact on property values.
Mr. and Mrs.Webb departed the meeting at 3:03 p.m.
The next Board meeting was scheduled for friday, February 19. The meeting adjourned at 3:05
.m.
I
i
I
I
