Capital Improvement Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> December 4, 2001 <br /> Discussion relative to Lease Purchase and Vehicle oolin <br /> Seven neighboring towns were consulted with respect to <br /> vehicle leasing and/or purchasing and with regards to the aspect relative to <br /> shared motor pooling of town vehicles. Of the seven Cape towns <br /> examined,the majority of Cape municipalities ovum their vehicles while <br /> copier machines tend to.be leased. Computers.were also owned by the <br /> municipalities surveyed. It was noted that the Ton of Barnstable is <br /> presently reviewing the aspect of vehicle pooling. <br /> The surveyed Cape towns included the Tom of Sandwich, Bourne, <br /> Falmouth, Yarmouth, Harwich, Orleans, and Barnstable. Information <br /> relative to all of the Police and Fixe Departments was not readily available <br /> as some towns have several public safety departments. <br /> The benefits its of vehicle purchases were discussed. Long term savings, <br /> improved vehicle control, in-house maintenance, assurance of <br /> maintenance, market value of used vehicles and the usage of the shared <br /> motor pool option was reviewed. <br /> The CIF Committee agreed to review the Town's Vehicle Use Policy at <br /> the next scheduled meeting.
