SCHOOL SECURITY <br /> DATE: JANUARY 2 , 2007 <br /> CC: SCHOOL COMMITTEE, CHIEF COLLINS, BRAD TRIPP <br /> Chief Collins,Rene Read,Ira Brown and I met yesterday to discuss the security proposals in the 2008 CTP. <br /> We outlined the schools} need for limiting access to the buildings. Parents have been clear in their request <br /> that all doors be locked. Their concerns are intruders and child custody disputes. Currently,once everyone <br /> i in school,all doors are locked except for the front doors in each building. <br /> The details of the scaled-hack security proposal are- <br /> K.. .Coombs School: <br /> 0 Camera,monitor, intercom,buzzer for front door $ 75000 <br /> • Flame retardant shades for interior and exterior windows 3,000 <br /> These are an essential element for keeping children <br /> out of visibility if an intruder is on the campus or in <br /> the building. <br /> uashnet School: <br /> Camera,monitor, intercom,buzzer for front door $ 7,900 <br /> New exterior doors for the front entrance off. Although 5,000 <br /> all QS exterior doors need replacing,the ability to <br /> restrict access to the schools is a.far greater priority <br /> for both the school committee and for Parents. we will <br /> submit a proposal for replacing the remaining QS <br /> exterior doors for the 2009 CIP program. <br /> Mashipa High School: <br /> • Camera,monitor,intercom,buzzer for front door 7,000 <br /> Su rintendent's Office: <br /> • Camera,monitor, intercom,burr for front door 7 <br /> AOOO <br /> Total CIP request for security 399000 <br /> Minus parent conation for QS security - <br /> Grand Total $37,000 <br />
